I never thought 2 grand would take this Eldo...now what do I do with it? LOL
Somebody either tell me I'm an idiot, or I made the deal of the century... :bonkers: adam_mcd 04-22-05, 09:38 PM http://kbb.com/kb/ki.dll/kw.kc.ur?kbb.WA;579121;WA053&98390;lux+p&723;Cadillac;1994%2 0Eldorado&12;CA;B1
dink around see if you did. thats just crazy..
edit: "The trans is starting to slip once...fix the trans and you will be proud to drive this nice nice car!!!"
how much should that set you back? cruzajc1 04-22-05, 10:11 PM You can get a brand new trans for it on ebay for about 1500 or less (do a search for a it) and you'll basically have a new car CadiJeff 04-22-05, 11:08 PM not bad, a slipping tranny dosn't mean it is bad, wait and see addison_ii 04-23-05, 01:12 AM Nice buy JimHare. I agree with everyone that once you fix the transmission this will be an excellent buy.Hopefully it is just a solenoid update that is needed rather a new trans. BTW I think that it is the deal of the century. zonie77 04-23-05, 01:45 AM If it's the solenoids it's a good deal. Let us know. Nice find Jim!!
Now just put some spinners on her and......... ;) kmhebert 04-23-05, 01:58 AM Homeboy, I paid $2000 for my Brougham and never looked back. That coupe is sweet, get it fixed and love it forever. They don't make the Eldo anymore (a mistake if you ask me) and now you have one that, with a little TLC, could do you right for a very long time. Fix the tranny and never look back, I say. Dude, I got a transmission from a junkyard for $400. I got it in within a week. That car is immaculant, I think you got a pretty good deal. Good find. excellent deal, even if you do need to put a new tranny in it... sprucegoose 04-23-05, 11:50 PM Wow, that is almost exactly what I paid for my 93 Eldo... It even looks like mine! I'd say if that trans isn't too screwed up you have yourself a nice car. After just getting done pulling and replacing a motor in a FWD car (my daughters Grand Prix), if you had to replace it completely it is a royal PITA! :nono: Hopefully it will just need a solenoid kit.
I paid just $1,800 for mine a little more than a year ago, but it had more miles (152K) and the headlights and blower-motor didn't work. Both very easy fixes. That was my deal of the century! Check out your new Eldo's twin sister here... :yup:
Some of my current collection (http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/showgallery.php?ppuser=149717) Night Wolf 04-23-05, 11:57 PM nice car... love the Polo Green! :)
Now get some ETC gear on there... grille, and interrior parts :)
I think "deal of the century"...for me atleast... goes to my mint 1979 Sedan DeVille d'Elegance that had 84k miles on her....$300 :) elwesso 04-24-05, 12:08 AM Definitely get that ETC grill...
Otherwise nice car.... New tranny can be had easily... GREAT deal! 91TexasSeville 04-24-05, 05:52 AM :hmm:

Just from what little bit I read on the eBay description and pictures, seems like you made a good purchase if you are not too far away from the seller. If you had lived in Oregon, your final cost may be what the car is worth once you get it running properly once again.
I agree with the others that the transmission may not be toast but needing only a new set of solenoids. Seems that way, judging from the description. You just never know for sure until you tear into it. If the fluid is dark red or worse, I would not bother with an upgraded solenoid kit, but just get a rebuilt transmission. I believe that Phoenix hard parts located in Arizona sells the remanufactured transmission for $650 (dyno tested with torque converter) plus $150 shipping which includes the cost of returning your old transmission (core).
Bottom line, you probably got a real good deal. 130K + miles on a 1994 anything is not a lot of miles, but a little below average. Krashed989 04-24-05, 07:58 AM Before you go ripping it apart blindly, check the codes to make sure its not something else causing your problems. Heck if your REALLY lucky, you might just need a few quarts of ATF to fix it. lol. JimHare 04-24-05, 10:00 AM Hey guys, thanks for the probable support.. misery loves company, but sometimes so does happiness, I suppose... LOL..
The car is in northern NJ, I'm about 100 miles from it. I haven't heard back from the seller yet with any details, I asked about any DIC codes or whatnot.I just have to figure out when I'm gonna get up there to get it and haul it back to Atlantic City..and then figure out a place to park it :)
I'll keep you informed if I hear anything.. damn!! 100 miles?? I wish i lived in NJ, eveything with a sweet deal on ebay is from NJ or TX, but im not driving some 25 hours to get it.
Ebay is very addicting, i just ended up with a 86 Jeep, didint even have the money to buy it. Stay away from ebay, LOL.
Ill glady buy your chrome grill if you replace it, gotta love the chrome, wish i had chrome wheels to accent. Looks beautiful. zonie77 04-24-05, 04:14 PM Not sure if the solenoids will cause slippage, but you want to drive it yourself anyway to be sure how it acts.
Is it driveable?
First thing I'd do is drop the pan, check the solenoids, and replace the fluid. Sometimes new fluid will get you some trans life. Congratulations Jim, best of luck with it. sprucegoose 04-24-05, 05:59 PM Ebay is very addicting, i just ended up with a 86 Jeep, did'nt even have the money to buy it. Stay away from ebay, LOL.

I agree, Ebay can be very addictive! :bonkers: I have got some great deals there though. A month or so ago I got this brand-new (not rebuild) GM 3.1 V6 motor, complete fuel injection and ignition system, exhaust, all sensors and even oil in it... for $1,525! It runs fantastic in our 96 GP.
Yes, I also really dig the chrome grille on my Eldo, no way I would switch! ;) powerglide 04-24-05, 07:37 PM ohh yeah....those late nights in front of ebay can make you do some dangerous things!
Nice buy! | |
