Have '91 Cadillac DeVille 4.9 engine. Found the front of the engine covered with power steering fluid after a 50 mi. freeway drive. We suspect the front seal on the pump is leaking. The mounting bolts for the pump seem obvious. Any tips on removing the pressure line from underneath? Does the pulley have to be removed first? Any other advice and suggestions would be appreciated.

Got this from Alldata:

Removal/Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove pump drive belt and the pulley.
3. Disconnect hydraulic lines from pump.
4. Remove two pump mounting bolts.
5. Remove power steering pump from vehicle.
6. Reverse procedure to install.

The adapter where the lines run into is probably the problem. The adapter which is a dealer part of carbon fiber reinforced plastic is more expensivbe than the pump. j

Melrose,
You are probably right about the reinforced carbon fiber plastic part as I have now replaced the pump and still have the leak! Inside the plastic parts are 3 "0" rings. I am going to try replacing those tomorrow. Hopefully the plastic part won't leak. We will find out tomorrow.
If anyone else needs to remove the pulley in front of the pump, there is a special GM puller that works great and worth the bucks.
