The old lady that had my car when i bought it was really carefull with her tires. Good Year Eagle F1s. So carefull that the last time whe put tires on the car it was in 99!!! Second set of tires on the car (95 STS). I went and installed them back as my summer tires, but the shop showed me how bad they were cracked and one has a huge crack on the side, pretty dangerous!!!
Im getting new Yokohama AVS DB S2, tires seem to have great performance, are very quiet (DB = Decibel) and look good. I wanted ES100 but they dont make 225/60R16 size...
Now it time to smoke the good thread thats left on the F1s! hahaha but not too much as to damage the diffenrential and tranny. Ill try to take some videos
and exlpain how you do the burnout like what gear.

Just be sure to drive the car a little bit after driving it or at least let it idle because that will cause a lot of heat that was caused...
I have herad bad things about the yokos, mainly with balancing problems... Can remember if it was the ES100 or AVS.....

Cant seem to do good burnout.... Car has too much traction!!! I remove the traction control (PS24 overide), floor it and enjoy ;)
We had lots of rain this weekend so it was really fun, just get hard on the gaz to get the tire loose and back off a bit so you dont redline it.
I noticed that the torque management controle kicks in even if the traction is disable, if i keep it floored long enough the engine just bogs down until i get good traction.

how much for that set of tires?
Turning off your traction control forces second gear launches too...that's why you can't get them to spin all that well...

No it doesn't... when you use the PS24 overide method on OBD1 cars as he described. If you pull the ABS fuse it does though... :disappoin

This thread reminded me of this 96 Grand Am I bought from this old guy a couple years back. 106K miles and it still had the original tires! :bonkers: All highway drivin' back and forth to work, but the back ones were really cupped bad. They howled like an ol' coon hound and I couldn't take it, not even for the few weeks till I got some new tires. i put them up front, aired 'em up to the max. PSI and proceded to lay several sets of clutch-dumping posi-burnouts up this nice hill. :sneaky: I couldn't believe how quickly it wore down all the high-spots, and they quieted right down! I kept waiting for one to go "POP" though, as they were weather checked pretty bad too..
Yeh, I need to get a good vid clip too with my new camera of a N* burnout. I just put a new high-flow cat-convert on this weekend, and it really sounds fantastic with the Dynomax Super-Turbos! :lildevil:

The new ones are coming this week. Yokohama AVS DB S2, A traction, A temperature, 320 treadwear, W speed rating. Sounds like great tires, are supposed to be VERY quiet (DB) and have great traction. I got them at 160$CAN per tire, installed and balance.
Someone want to purchase the old ones? One is cracked, the other are just old with decent tread left
