If the battery is disconnected, does the computer erase the code out of the memory to light up the CHANGE OIL SOON light? I've been curious, because I've had my battery replaced, and I just wanted to know if that would have cleared it off, thanks. Im suprised it hasnt came on yet.

I had my oil change on December 20th, 2004, at that time the light was on and I had it reset when the oil was changed at the Chevy dealer, I've probably put about 1,200-1,500 miles on the oil, mostly city driving.

when i bought mine it needed a new battery so they replaced the battery and the oil light shut off for about 300 miles and then kicked back on.

As far as I know disconnecting the battery for any legnth of time. (more than 5 minutes) will clear all codes along with resetting a few things. When the battery is reconnected there is a short learning proccess the ECM goes through.
