I would like to steam clean my engine at the car wash but I dont think they have an engine cleaner so would it hurt to use water under the hood? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Goto your local Auto part store and buy some engine degreaser. Then head to the car wash. Let your car cool for a bit or by the time you prep the car for cleaning to should be cool enough. Make sure you have a toliet brush handy for those spots inbetween things that still wont come out even with a Hi psi hose.

And old trick I do when cleaning my engine is to take the battery out of the car. Take a old cell phone plug that goes to your cig lighter and open it and have the ends connect to a 9 volt battery. It will save your radio setting for up to 30 mins sometimes longer. Clean the base of the battery cause I hate to see a clean engine but a green battery holder

Search the detailing and appearance forum, there was a good thread about this a while ago.
