We recentlly purchased a 93 Cadillac Sedan Deville 120,000 miles, nice car we love it.

The Service Engine Soon light comes on ocassionaly so we thought we'd use the Diagnostic System to figure out what's wrong. When we turn the ignition on and press the off and warmer buttons what comes up is E.9.6 we never see a specific vehicle system code such as PCM, IPC etc. Are we doing something wrong? This was before the stuff below.

We recently installed a power antenna (a caddy just isn't a caddy without one) but that quit the other day and appears to have taken out the radio as it no longer displays the time or station even with a regular antenna hooked up to it.

We also installed a hitch.

It started making a wierd beeping sound when you turn the key on. Where it normally would be a ding, ding it now has a wierd electronic sounding beep.

Any ideas on these problems would be appreciated.

The only thing that i can tell you is to disconnect the battery for about 10 mins. Reconnect and go into diagnostics and report back everything that it does from there.

E96 is the type of code you're supposed to see... well when there's a problem anyway.

I thought a power antenna was standard on them? Could it have been wired in wrong and killed the radio? Did these problems start right after something else was done or overtime?

Sounds to me like you popped a fuse. Check for the fuse related to the sound system and change it; it's possible you wired the power antenna incorrectly causing a short. Good luck.

E96 = Torque Converter Overstress
