I sent my wheels out to get chrome plated 2 weeks ago. I finally got them back at the end of last week. They look awesome! I got new toyo t1-s tires. I have the stock size up front, but in the rears I put 275/35/18. You can really see the differance. Then I got a custom tune from bryan at pcmforless.com I took the computer out and sent it to him, and it only took him one day and he sent it back to me. The car fired right up with no problems or errors. He says that the tune is good for about 20rwhp. Overall I am very pleased with the results. I just love this car!:lildevil: http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y70/Stiff1/DSC02408.jpg

hmmm
by my calculations your new rear tire is 4.1% shorter than stock....that's a mighty big difference...
how is stabilitrack acting?

how much did the chroming set you back? I assume that you demounted the tired and TPS before sending them out?

That looks pretty darn good!

From this pic, that rear wheel appears to be noticably smaller. Could be a fig newton of my imagination though ;)

I love that tread pattern. Very aggressive, I bet it looks very good on the car.

I'm on the fence on the chrome. I don't think it would work on the light platimum. Looks good on the black. I bet it would look amazing on a RedLine.

Happy modding,

Chris

But rear wheels must be 275/40/18i hope that's what he meant....275/35 is over an inch shorter, and the pic backs that up

and I was worried about 0.3% difference :p

/edit: i think i can make out 275/40 on the sidewall :)

He quoted wrong. I can see 275/40/18 on his sidewall. You guys don't miss anything!!!

In that picture though, the rear looks noticeably smaller. Must be the shadows.

Yeah, how much did the chroming cost and who did the chroming for you? Thanks!

Good job guys that was a test, the tire size is 275/40/18 not 275/35 you all passed:D . The chroming was $125.00 per wheel from calchrome.com The chrome is flawless. I dismounted the stock tires, which had 0% tread life left on them after 9000 miles, removed the sensors, and sent them to California for the plating. I was so excited to get the car back that I actuall paid for second day air which was $305. That was the only way that I could get the car up and running before the weekend. I am very happy with the results.

Chrome is so :coolgleam on a black V.

So there's no rubbing issues with that size tire on the rear on the stock wheel? If so, I'm going 275/40 on the rear and 255/45 on the front. :)

Stiff1, you live in the Chicago area?

Somebody photoshop a platinum car with chrome rims. At $500 a set, it's money well spent. I'm sick of the pitting, scratching, etc. Plus now that I cancelled my Magna Charger I have $6,500 buring a hole in my pocket.

There is no rubbing issues at all. The tires just fit perfectly. I Live in the northern burbs about 1/2 hour out of chicago.

The car feels real strong. I haven't had a chance to get to the track yet or a dyno so I'm not sure how much it has helped, but SOTP feel is great!

So far so good. I don't have any wheel hop so far. The car just leave two of the coolest looking black marks I have ever seen on the road. I only have about 75 miles on them so far. I need to get out and drive more!

You can't appreciate the look of your wheels when driving down the road.

You can, however, enjoy the MagnaCharger each and everytime you drive the car...are you sure you want to cancel?

Fender gap in the back! :(

That's why we're all looking for a way to lower that rear end!!

I don't WANT to cancel I HAVE to cancel. Not to thread jack, but I want the Maggie enough to spend that kind of dough and actually my total was closer to $9,000 with everything I was having done. But what I can't do is risk GM voiding my warranty. The rear will blow again, not if, but when. :banghead: I can't go around driving, worrying and waiting for it to happen.

CVP33 -

The Maggie actually makes the rear diff stronger - just ask BlownChevy :)

I feel your pain, I do. I'm all in on this car and can't imagine how I could get the diff replaced now if it failed (well, I COULD take the maggie off...but, no, too much hassle).

I would have to guess that stronger aftermarket halfshafts will be available at some point - and the fact that yours failed must be a mfg. defect of some sort...sorry for your loss :nono:

The bumper, license plate panel, and logo surrounds trim all came from http://www.realwheelstrim.com/ I really like everything because there are 3-4 other Black CTS-Vs around here and mine is the only one that looks different.
