I need an exhaust resonator for a 1998 Cadillac Catera. Retails for approximately $268. I've found one, but it's from a 2001 Catera. Any ideas on whether or not it is interchangeable?

It should work. Theres nothing saying you cant find an aftermarket resonator with the same pipe dimensions that would replace it, especially one at a lower price. Like this:

Or are you saying the muffer (sometimes i think one can call it a resonator) is bad and need a replacement?

I was told it was the resonator (in the rear muffler at the tailpipe).

Yes the muffler from the 01 Catera should work OR again you could go aftermarket -which is cheaper once again.

Magnaflow muffler, has been shown to fit the Catera'. Looks nice, gives a better sound and flow too.

Have you considered what a franchise repair shop offers? Maybe a trip to Midas or etc to see if they have something cheap that works too.

I just removed mine and installed a Flowmaster today. If you are interested I might sell it.

I am on a budget. How much are you wanting for it? How many miles on the car it came off of?

They car had 82,000 when I took it off, but it is in excellent condition other than being dirty. Sell it for $80
