Hi I have a 95 Deville w/ 140k i had a light tap for a fiew days then the low oil pressure light came on Found I had a bad oil pump. Now I changed it and I have what sounds to be valve noise and have no idea what caused it. It almost sounds like I have no Oil going into the valve covers. Please help

update the tapping went away I think it was the lifters. It still comes up with the low oil pressure. I changed to the rolletta 15-40 and still get the message. Replaced thermostat w/ a 180 and bolth radiator fans. Is there anything else that can cause this?

Make sure there are no leaks from the oil pressure sending unit.

There are no leaks by the sending unit there seems to be one by the front "by the crank" of the engine although I cant find it

Make sure the harmonic balancer bolt is torqued appropriately. The oil pump is driven by a compression fit between the balancer and the oil pump, so if the bolt is loose, there will not be enough friction to drive the oil pump.

The bolt is torqued correctly is it possable that that fiting is worn?

At this point it you should hook up a mechanical pressure gauge to see the true pressure. It might just be a bad sender.

Most new cars run less oil pressure than older cars. Normal bearing wear may be dropping your pressure below the threshold of the switch. Put a mech gauge on to be sure.

I have a mech guage on it already at idle the guage varys from 0-5psi at 2500 it is roughly 20psi
