View Full Version : Our Maggie is Installed jlakowicz 04-01-05, 05:34 PM MorePerformance has finished the work on our 2005 V. The car will be shipped back but it may take 2 weeks. In the meantime they sent us the dyno data, which is attached. 475 HP at the wheels must feel good. We can't wait to go to the drags and keep the hood closed, at least for the first run or two.
We had the following work done:
MagnaCharger Kit updated with new shaft cover, 6 psi boost, intercooler
MP Cold air intake
MP custom roller cam, rocker arms, hardened pushrods, titanium retainers
Anti wheel hop kit, CAGS eliminator
Shifter
Dealing with MorePerformance, Troy and Mike, has been a great experience. We haven't met them personally but they seem to be very good people, honest, knowledgeable and polite.
We will write again after we get it back, drive it a day or two, and put on new rear tires.
Joe and Mary Lakowicz. Joe and Mary,
Great news and I know you'll enjoy it from reading law5 and wildwhl's posts! I'm looking at late April for my maggie install and will definitely be using More Performance. I'm not going to do the cam and other valve train upgrades as I'm hesitant to open the motor and frankly I believe the maggie alone with satisfy my upgrade fever for now. I do have the Lingenfelter CAI, BB with X-pipe and hopefully the headers once we meet the Group Buy minimum. Keep us all posted on your experiences.
Chris Dreamin 04-01-05, 05:47 PM Holy mother of Gawd... look at that torque line when he punched is at 2700rpm!
   :D jlakowicz 04-01-05, 06:17 PM I have to comment it should be awsome. That is what I wanted, torque at all rpm, that is what makes a car fun to drive. We have a LPE 383 Vet that puts down about 415 HP at the wheels with a 3.42 rear, a flat torque curve, and the Vet feels like a beast. The V has a 3.73 rear which should compensate for its higher weight. I can't wait to drive the V! Now I only have to convince Mary to make the Vet a garage queen and take the V to the road track. She said something like "lets not trash this one too." Thanks for your comments. Joe. willsctsv 04-01-05, 06:56 PM What are you going to do for traction in that beast! It looks like if you floor it at 2500 rpm in second or third you will be spinning those tires! WOW! jlakowicz 04-01-05, 07:24 PM I don't know about the traction yet. For the moment I'll assume poor traction will save the clutch and rear for a while. Joe,
Your build beat mine by 20 horses, way to go!!! I think you are really going to like the beast when she arrives back home. You will not believe the acceleration. I was pushing the car 100 going through 110mph and the G's felt like going from zero to 10MPH, heading for 100. It's a rush, enjoy the ride!:bouncy: jlakowicz 04-02-05, 06:34 AM Geno, I attached the SAE dyno chart which shows 465 RWHP, the car did 475 on the day of testing.
Are you running the stock clutch? MP suggested a new clutch but I declined knowing of balancing issuse with some of the aftermarket clutches. How is your clutch holding up? Is it slipping? Can you smell it burning?
Have fun and drive safe. Joe jlakowicz 04-02-05, 06:40 AM Geno, I tried to send you a private message. I don't have permission to view your public profile or send you e mail. I can't send private messages to anyone on the forum. How do I get more privledges? Thanks
Sorry the rest of you had to read this, I couldn't find a way on the forum to get more privledges. Very impressive, indeed!!! wildwhl 04-02-05, 11:03 AM jlakowicz -
I've had the pleasure of some nice clutch essence a time or two, and I know I'm not making the power your build did.
Judicious use of the throttle and launching technique are a must with even the bolt on maggie installed to make the clutch, rearend and halfshafts last I believe. The only time I recognized that nice carmelized fragrance of clutch discs frying was after several, repeated attempts at figuring out a good way to launch without frying tires or getting too out of control.
Since I don't need to launch on the street or hardly ever, it is a non-issue and I haven't been blessed by that very expensive scent since...but I'm sure it won't be too long :hmm:

I haven't changed anything in the drive train yet. I plan on redoing whatever needs to be done to get all the possible problem areas sorted out, but I don't want to be an early adopter.
I don't slip my clutch beyond the typical engagement and I've done very few dumps, so I feel comfortable with what I have. There have been zero issues with my drive train at this point.
Some future considerations: Aluminum FW, HD Clutch, CF drive shaft, Cradle bracing, and "new & improved" differential (whatever and whenever it arrives). The way I drive (aggressive but not brutal), my hope is the rear will not expire before I beef it up, we'll see.
I sent you a private message with my e-mail address. I look forward to hearing from you. | |
