It seems that way. My car is still at the dealer getting a new rear for 5 days:helpless: now. Apparently, GM has changed the part # because they changed the Ring and pinion inside the diff. I haven't seen a diff apart so I don't know what this looks like and if these are in fact the parts that went on mine. Any of you experinced guys thinks this make sense?

The only thing they are addressing on the rear, is the rear itself. Addressing it so the parts delivery guy knows which dealership to bring it to. Its not only the rear, its the shafts also. They knew this was going to happen> They had to deceide on a rear and when they deceided to use a regular CTS rear, the engineers had to know that it would not be even close to being able to handle the torque to weight ratio of the V.

As FDR might have said, "We have nothing to fear. . . but rear itself!"

--Here's to hoping GM will do the right thing and address the issue before it becomes noticeable enough to impact sales (and value!)

The CTS-VR I am assuming is the race car. I'm sure that has a MUCH stronger rear even though it doesn't need it. The race version I am sure is MUCH lighter. Not sure about the cooling fins, but they would be moulded into the casing or moulded intot the cover> They would just prevent the rear from getting too how when road course racing and not help at all with the breakage our V's are encountering. I was told if you break down the part #'s on the rear, they are all the same with the exception of the 373 gears in the V.

The CTS-V diff is not the same as the CTS. The regular CTS diff is not even an LSD?!

And the CTS-VR DOES use the same diff as the CTS-V... no need to theorize... you can read it in their official statements/rules.

GN, I've been in contact with the race team, and he assured me they are running the stock rearend as delivered.

He says they are putting out 350 RWHP, and since they are not racing from a stop, that they are not dealing with the problems we are, as well as hop being a minor problem.

Now, they have better tires, and I'm sure the cradle is somehow re-inforced, into or along with the 12 point cage, IMO anyway, no facts, just conjecture.

He says they are putting out 350 RWHP :histeric::histeric::histeric: ...that's the official line anyway...

Alright, what the hell is a CTS-VR? Your not talking about the car Andy Pilgim drives , are you?

Also, they still have to launch to start the race, and they drop the clutch when leaving the pits. The difference is the weight and I wouldn't dobt if they are using hardened axles.

They are talking about one badass race car. It is a V on steroids, lowered, wider and with a few different mechanical parts.

It finished 1-2 in Sebring last year.

Really... we're not making this stuff up... Same diff, same half-shafts... the spring and shocks will fit right onto the production V... (that's what the LPE C&D shoot-car was running).

The production CTS-V and CTS-V race car share common technology – in the form of the all-aluminum V-8 engine, front and rear suspension, steering system, differential and halfshafts
