After a couple of trips to Superior Cadillac in Fayetteville, AR I've finally gotten rid of the dreaded exhaust rattle. They tried the new heat shield and muffler straps but the buzzing sound only got worse. They eventually resolved the issue by installing a whole new exhaust. Superior even had the aftermarket tip I had welded on a few weeks ago removed and welded onto the new system without me having to ask.
According to the service tech, the heat shield and straps are a cheap $100 fix that Cadillac requires them to try before going to a new $800 exhaust. The job was well done, and now my Lade is turning heads for all the right reasons again. Thanks again for the solid info MEJIA!

Is this "rattle" you're talking about the popcorn-popping sound when the exhaust is warm?
We have an '04 Suburban that still, after 14k miles, sounds like a freakin cap gun going off again and again. It'd be nice if there was an actual fix, and not just another bandade.
This is not the popcorn sound, but a vibration when you accelerate from a steady position, accelerate coming out of a turn or maintain a constant speed (inc. cruse control).
I have the same thing and they ordered new clamps & a new heatsheild. Monday is judgement day - we will see.
If it still occurs, I will press them to replace the exhaust.

+1. This rattle occurs while the vehicle is runnning, spefically around 1100-1300 rpm in my Lade. The tech told me that the new heat shield and straps will fix some of the rattles. The rattles not fixed by the heat shield are treated to an entirely new exhaust. Keep after it Kage....there's hope!
Thanks - when I have hoochie mamas in my Caddy, the last thing I want them to hear is my truck farting!
Will let everyone know. Kage.

Okay, thanks. I didn't realize there was ANOTHER common exhaust issue with these trucks.
I wish they hadn't tried to save a few bucks by using lower quality exhaust pieces on the newer trucks--our '02 Avalanche had the "original" stuff and never rattled or popped once in 2 years.

Rolex: I am very glad that you finally had your truck fixed... Many information posted in these forums by fellow members has been extremely helpful for me in the past... Now I am glad that something I posted has helped a fellow member in this case, you.
Hope you enjoy your Escalade in very good health.....
Just to let you know the irony....
I posted the official information regarding the cause of the problem and the official fix from GM long time ago and guess what???
I havent fixed my exhaust system yet!!!!!
I didnt fixed it mainly due to the fact that I seriously doubt that the Cadillac dealer here in MTY has any clue of the problem I would present to them... This is due to the fact that I believe there is little and out of time communication between the Cadillac corporate office and the mexican dealer regarding recalls and any other problems related to mechanical issues. However I dont think there is this type of problems relates to sales issues ($$$) hahhahahahha.

Took my 2004 Escalade to the dealership this morning to get a new heat shield and new clamps for the exhaust. Perhaps its to early to tell, but from what I "can't" hear, there is no more exhaust rattle. Looks like the fix from GM worked.
I will be keeping my ear on it the next few days.
Good luck to anyone else who has this problem.
