Did anybody else buy these. Are they kidding with the way they install?? Double sided tape on an area thats got about a hundred raised points. Its not flat what the heck do they expect these things to adhear to, the tips of those points? I cleaned the surface very good and put the front one on. It was joke. The thing poped off in two seconds. They look great but how can I install without drilling holes in them. I was thinking liquid nails, but I figured I'd get ideas from you guys before I go making a mess. Any ideas??

I have never seen the back of the sill plates, but you could probably put a couple of dots of silicone, put the sill plates on, then put something heavy for a short time to hold them in place, just if you can put the silcone on the ends where you can get something under the plate like a screwdriver in case you want to remove them

Scratch that off my list of future mods, I don't need them falling off with the abuse that college is putting on my truck.

they look beaitful but the way install is not gonna work and even if you do get it to stick its not gonna last. Even if I do the silicone thing I think they will eventually come off. If anyone has done these and has a good way to keep them on please let me know.

I have them, I used stronger double sided tape, actually thicker double-sided tape, and added more to the back.

i used a very strong super glue. it really does not hurt anything if you glue it cause u will still be able to pull up the plastic part if needed and the door sill will come up with it. does that make sense.

Yeah that makes sense but for $109.00 I shouldnt have to use super glue..:bonkers:

what did you clean the surface with? I used alchohol swabs on both my taillight covers and my wood trim pieces. They follow curves with no problem, and are held on with 3m tape

I cleaned with alcohol thats not the problem. Your dash pieces stick b/c its a flat surface its not the 3m tape thats the problem its the fact that the door sills are not flat they have all the raised little points and the tape has very little to actually stick to.The tape only makes contact with a few of the tips not enough to securley hold especially in such a high traffic area.

I have had them for a month now, no problem. Just clean the surface with alcohol and if the sills didnīt come with two layers of tape just cut new pieces of tape and stick them over, in that way you get better contact with your plastic sills, it fills out the gap better.

I bought them for my '05...I agree, the way they recommend for the install is not the way to go. I have not put them on yet, but I figured I would just grind the existing door sills smooth (remove the bumps) and then just use a single layer of double sided tape. This would allow the metal door sill cover plates to sit lower and take the abuse of getting in and out all the time. Will post pics when I tackle the project. I also put in the tailgate remote lock and unlock and it works great!

As promised...here they are! I ground all the points off the tops the OEM sills (took around 5-10 mins per sill) then used a multi purpose adhesive (caulk gun dispensed) and then taped the edges and put some weighted items in the centers and let them dry...couldn't get them apart with a crow bar now! I am totally satisfied with the install, just bummed that they didn't come stock!

Cheers,
