A labor leader at General Motors' unit Adam Opel renewed calls for Detroit to approve the sale of Opel-brand passenger cars in North America as the German business faces a weak European market. A spokesman for GM in Europe said, however, the company had no plans to export Opel cars to the U.S.

"The most important reason is the unfavorable exchange rate, but that's not the only one," he said.

"The company has a sufficient number of brands in the U.S. to cover all customer groups, and Opel's U.S. sister-brand Saturn integrates Opel technology and design into its models much like Opel's sister-brand Vauxhall does in the UK," the spokesman continued.

Instead of having Saturn, we should have Vauxhall. They're the ones that designed the new Saturn Sky/Pontiac Solstice which seems to have people actually excited about Saturn's line up:p

Saturn cars really just suck. They have no power, some of them have the instrument panels in the center of the dash:bonkers:, hopefully the Aura and SKy will point car designers for Saturn in the right direction:devil:

:worship: :yeah:

Vauxhall/Opel has some sweet products right now too...

and this means even better support for the Catera now that there would be a major flow of parts from Europe :D

What about Holden? That new Caprice they are selling over there is f**king SWEET! It's got 335hp V8, or a 262hp V6. DVD player with two LCD screens, headphones, and remote. Six disc in-dash CD changer. Plus a bunch of other nice stuff. Here's a link http://www.holden.com.au/www-holden/action/modeloverview?modelid=8000

Theyu also have other cars. like the Manaro, which was the basis for the new GTO. It's still using the older LS1, but it looks even better.

That Commodore SS they have is really nice looking too. It's also got the 335hp V8. Forget Opel and Vauxhall, I'd much rather be driving a Holden.

edit: Looks like Vauzhall offers the Manaro too, so maybe it isn't so bad.

Holden made the Australian version of the platform offered from Opel/Vauxhall. Chevrolet in the middle east and mid and southern europe have some of the same offerings from Holden. Australia atleast knew what they were doing

Opel, Vauxhall and Holden are basically the same platforms with different drivetrains, depending on the market.

so maybe redo saturn as the 4th part of the Opel/Vauxhall/Holden way ...

All product shared , From the Rear drive statesmen to the corsa...even the UTE ...

then maybe theyll finnly go back to being the "diffrent kind of car for a diffrent kind of people"

Exactly... they could generate alot of furvor by revamping Saturn completely.

They could start stunting with mysterious commercials with tag lines like "A Different kind of car company... The new Saturn, are you Ready?" And revamp the entire lineup with vehicles from Opel/Vauxhaul being CAREFUL not to get cross confusion with Chevrolet models, or eliminate the unnecessary Chevy models and allow Saturn to take the reigns in some key areas. As far as Im concerned, Chevy would be just fine dropping the Aveo, dropping the Monte Carlo, and leaving the Cobalt, Impala and Corvette as their sole passenger car offerings. Not sure what I would do with the Malibu.

event he interior is far more inferior ..

The Signum Could have done much beatter , even with all engine options . Imagine the market for this car with the 3.0 litre common rail diesel ?

Instead the Maxx gets one engine and tranny combo . the pushrod 3.5 and 4 speed slushbox ...
