Just wanted to drop a hello in this forum. I had already left one in the Seville/Eldo section.
I have an '81 Eldo Diesel - been in the family since new. It's on its 2nd engine, and 103K original miles.
Oh, and I've got pics of the car on my Cardomain page...

You have a very unique Eldo! I had no idea there were 42,200 diesel Elorados' made that year, any idea how many survived?
Here are some links with history and specs:
Good luck. Thanks for joining the forum!

Actually, there were 42,200 total Cadillac Diesels...
As for the Eldos in particular, I got this from Cadillac in 1996:
Thank you for your recent e-mail. There was a total of 240,189
Cadillacs built during the 1981 model year. Of those, 60,643
were Eldorados and of those, 11,765 were diesel. The Manufac-
turer's Suggested Retail Price for the V6 Eldorado was $17,385.
For the V8-6-4, the MSRP was $17,550.

I don't think many survived because the typical Caddy ownter of the day couldn't understand how to run a diesel, and had them converted to the 6.0L gas V8.
