: Backup Camera WaterShield Idea

Just throwing this out there. Does anybody think there should be some type of shield over top of the back up camera that blocks water from coming off the car when backing down a hill. I have that issue every morning after a rain and then just water spots everywhere on the back up camera. Anybody else having this issue.

Something like a small drip edge would probably solve it. Just a thought.

Yeah I like that idea just funnels the water away from in front of the camera. I use my backup camera alot and it sucks on rainy days. hey also should allow you to use your camera any time not just in reverse.

Yes, this is a really annoying "feature" of the camera...

Especially if there is condensation on your rear window it would be nice to be able to see out of the camera

It sure would be a help. With all of the rain in Florida during the summer the camera is useless much of the time

Hi everyone, I'm actually in the process of getting a patent for a permanent and inexpensive solution for this issue. I have a 2014 Sorento and while a little rain doesn't make the camera un-usable...it's extremely annoying considering the backup camera option was not cheap. :) Let me know if you'd like me to keep you updated on my progress.

Please keep me updated. If you need any ideas let me know. The worse part is when it gets rains drops on it and you have to get out the car to see. Maybe a water shield or a way for the camera to vibrate to shake water off. Kind of like the brakes on the srx

They should've added some sort of air line that would activate when the wipers are running blow the water off the lense. Good thing I live in Phoenix, AZ where it seldom rains.

The blown air idea is great! Someone is thinking outside the box.

And since there is already an air compressor in the back end it would be easy for them to add a little air line and 2-way electric valve so it could be used without interfering with the rear air springs.

would the blown air idea work once the road grime and salt has dried up? Perhaps a little super power washer to blast it and a little
arm to scrub it too.
