: new user with a silly lux question

Go ahead and point and giggle, I am sure this is a dumb question, but what is this Lux I/II/III stuff and how do I tell if I have one of those or base? I can't find any reference to it in any of the ownership documents, on the ID panels or by decoding the VIN.
I did find out by decoding the VIN that the DTS I just bought was a fleet rental, I am not sure what I think about that. I *think* by the options installed that it is above base but I am also pretty sure it is now LuxIII.

None of this makes any difference, I love the car no matter what, but it would be interesting trivia to know.

Feel free to tell me to RTFM if you can point me to the FM to read.

TIA

Most fleet cars will be LUX l or LUX ll..
There might be a few that are LUX lll if some company leased it for one of their executives.

Does it have the AC cooled seats??
Does it have the massaging LUMBAR in the front seats ??

If it was from Hertz it will be a Lux III, mine is and it came from Hertz at RDU.

Any dealer should be able to pull up the build sheet if you give them the VIN: 1SB is Lux I, 1SC is Lux II, 1SD is a Lux III.

The wheels differed between l ll and lll.

Real wood on lux lll. Heated rear seats and rear make up mirrors also on lux lll.

If I look at the VIN decode I see:
1SC SALES PACKAGE SALES PKG(1SC)
1SZ PACKAGE OPTION- (1SZ)
IL3 TRIM,INTERIOR DESIGN (IL3)

does that make it a LUX-II ?

Thanks to all! I really appreciate all the help. This is a great board with great people!

Hello Atavar,

If you were to provide me with your VIN in a private message, I would be more than happy to do some research for your regarding this. Thank you very much for your time!

My 2008 Lux III (1SD) started life with Enterprise Rental. My niece works for Enterprise and I was hoping that they would still have any sort of record on my car, but no luck. I don't know if it was a regular rental car...or if it was some sort of executive car. If anybody has any insight on this, I'd love to know...

I have dealt with the local Enterprise Rental Agency few times. To my knowledge, they do not rent out Luxury III Caddys. I am sure it is an executive vehicle leased by Enterprise.
