As a Proud new owner of a 05 White Diamond Pearl EXT I have come across a crazy problem. I like to keep the hitch and ball in the receiver at all times. The backup sensors are picking up the hitch and ball and causing the display to read incorectly and it makes the warning chime engage. Other than removing the hitch and ball and turning the sensors completly off are there any other suggestions on how to get around this problem? Thanks in advance.:o

I never rally noticed any difference with my receiver and ball on, I know that small inclines behind me will cause a beep and even blowing leaves will set it off while backing up. Congrats on your new truck. :)

welcome:)

maybe you could remove the sensor which is in the middle and propably picking up the hitch ball. I don`t now what the "off status" current is on the sensor but maybe you could either sort-circut the sensor or just replace it.

Thanks for the welcome and suggestions. I guess that I will stow it in the side compartment for now. I have been lurking around this board for several months now and finally decided to trade my 04 Avalanche in on something a little nicer. It sure is a sweet ride. :)

I had the same problem with my hitch step, my solution was turning off the backup sensors. I don't need them anymore.
