I still can't figure out why my car (2001) has the older style logos (rather than the newer 'abstract' logos from 2000-up). Also, they're black-n-white instead of the color logos on most cars. I think whoever put the carriage top on it swapped out the badging because there are additional badges on the sail panels that match those in the stock locations (on the hood, grille and decklid).

That is strange! I thought all the 2000-up Devilles had the new logos. I know the Sevilles didn't get the new logos until 2002. My 2000 STS has the old logo, and it is in black and white on the grille.

Hello i just wanted to say that i like the old (pre 2000) emblems better. the reasons for that is that i think the new "abstract" ones look "cheap" like they even try to save money on the badge. The older ones was more "crafted" or sculptured and that is more in my taste. but then- i'm stuck in the seventees, atleast when it comes to cars.

i think the reason it became abstract was because of some horrible marketing thing with the ducks in the crest and the Catera. It was a Catera commercial with Cindy Crawford if i remember correctly?

Basically, women got offended by (i.e. JEALOUS of) Cindy Crawford.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the Deville started using the new emblems in 2002. The new emblems debuted in 2000 on the White House limo, but I don't think they were used on any production car until the 02 model year.

Yup. The Escalade was the first to wear the new logo, as production started early 2001, because their was no 2001 Escalade.

Yes, you're right. I looked at pics of '00 and '01s and they have the same emblems as my car. My mom's '02, and the ones at the dealer had the new badges hence my assumption that mine should too.

I like the old ones better, too.

Those were some great sites Gentlemen.

I'm glad my 2000 DeVille has the traditional
emblem.

In respect of the new emblem,
analyzed comparatively with the traditional
one, it is easy to replace the word 'abstract'
with 'cheapcraptastic'. What were they thinking!?!
Well I guess it was the same kind of thinking that
spent 2 million$ on a T.V. spot with a duck, overated
model ;and, a fancy Chevy Cavalier.
With such a rich, worthy and literally noble heritage;
I can't comprehend some of these dumbass decisions.

I like the pre2000 logo. Every Caddy I have owned has or had one and I have one on my Keychain. When or if I get a new billet or mesh grill for my SLS I want the V logo in the grill.
