I wanted to spice up the shifter so I purchased and installed a V2 shift knob and Redline shift boot.

Here's the stocker. The bezel is all gummy and needs to be cleaned up.

Carefully using some pliers and a flat-tip screwdriver, I removed the silver ring and removed the old boot.

After countless time cleaning with "Goo Gone" followed by Dawn dish liquid and a good rinse, the new bezel is ready for the shift boot. The tabs of the shift boot were pulled through the correct slots and taped to hold it in place. Then use 3M Fast Tack Trim Adhesive to secure it. This is the point to NOT be in a rush to avoid contaminating the fabric that you want visible.

The new boot is installed. Here is a comparison of the old and new.

Looks good. I have the exact same color combination from them.

I wish I had better pics but the interior is so dark that my camera phone does an auto-flash. It looks way better in person.

Is the stock boot glued in place? Looks good by the way.

Yep the stock boot is tucked and glued in place. A flat tip screwdriver or equivalent removes it pretty easily. It took a good 30-45 minutes working that "Goo-Gone" which is surprising because that stuff can remove a decal in seconds.

And thanks!

Yes it matches very nicely. If it's not exact, my eyes can't tell.
