I bought an Impala SS kit. Is there anything I need to watch out for? Is this a direct bolt-on, or do I need to drill holes or anything? Do I need to worry about this thing screwing up my oxygen sensor and tripping the check engine light? Anything else?

Bolt-on. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

You will need to get a hockey puck or the 4LE elbow if you wanna get rid of home plate.

Isn't that a "1LE" elbow? At least that's what I have on mine.
I fully endorse the K&N kit. People like to bash it from time to time but I think it's worth every dime. The only issue is the plastic tube DOES rub a little on the ABS modulator housing but rotating it slightly minimizes it. Also, make sure you have a good snug fit at the MAF and filter. It can "seem" secure but not be. Double check it especially after driving for a little while.
