It takes a LOT of gas to push the car over the road and through the air at 85 mph. Normal mileage for your driving conditions. If you had done it at 62 mileage would have been better - remember - your car has the 3.71:1 performance final drive - that engine spinning at about 2800 is happily guzzling gas.

Yep.. I know...
There was a thread a while back where someone claimed to have got some real high fuel mileage on a trip...
I was just kinda poking fun at that.... wishing MINE would do it too... LOL :)

That's about what it usually does at that speed... usually it is closer to 20 or 20.2...
Yesterday I was having to do a lot of slowing down and then speeding back up...
Most of the time the speed was in the low to mid 90's to be able to have the 83 average...

That's how you drive a Cadillac!!! I would rather drive 80/90 mph and average 20mpg gallon and enjoy the smoothness and power of the vehicle, than drive 65 like your driving Ms. Daisy. :-)

Yeah, well ........... it's all relative: At 125 mph steady my STS burns about a gallon every 6.5 miles - but at 65 it does 24.8. If I were in Texas the car would be speedily happy - but in many places here on the East Coast 85 on I-95 will get you a big ticket, so we putt along at 76.

The speed limit on most Interstates and a good portion of the State roads in Texas is 75 mph... with West Texas being 80 mph and a new Toll Road in Central Texas with a 85 mph speed limit.
It's pretty easy to run 80+ all day long because most people drive 5 to 10 over the speed limit anyway.

Jim, unrelated, but I noticed you have a green light under your drive gear. Mines red on my 08. Weird.

It is only green when in "D"... all other positions are red...

Mine has never gotten over 22 on the highway, and that was doing 65 between Chicago and STL on the solid I-55 speed trap zone.
