GM will offer an imported version of the SRX SUV for $83,130 and a version made by its Shanghai joint venture for 759,000 yuan -- more than double the base retail price in the United States.

It can cost up to 20 percent more to produce a vehicle in China due to inadequate logistics and higher import tariffs, analysts say. (http://www.autonews.com/news.cms?newsId=11680)

Odd , in cases like toyota in france they acutally were able to drop the cost per vehicle by avoiding tarrifs , france deemd that any car with 60% of its parts made in france was a domestic and not subject to tarrifs ....

I wonder Why gm wont allow the parts to be made right there in china along with the srx ....wonder if it has to do witt he chevy spark and chery car deal going on

Also wonder what chinas rules are for a car to be considered domestic ....
