Eighteen months ago on a Hollywood sound stage, General Motors hosted a hush-hush meeting for 35 of the biggest names in entertainment.

No names were publicized. Videotaped remarks were kept private. One new vehicle was unveiled.

This trendsetting group included NBA and NHL stars. It included TV actors, movie producers, hip-hop artists and jazz musicians. Some were teenagers, others were 40 years old.

These tastemakers had gathered to see the 2007 Cadillac Escalade, which debuts next January. They are a small but significant band of trendsetters that Cadillac is consulting for its future product.

"Cadillac knows that we, as hip-hop artists, are spokesmen for some of their products," says Xzibit, who owns a Hummer H2. "We add a lot of aftermarket accessories to their cars. And if they can beat us to the punch -- if they can find out what we'd do after they make it -- they could put it into production first." (http://www.autonews.com/article.cms?articleId=51999)

"the 2007 Cadillac Escalade, which debuts next January"...Do they mean at Auto Shows or Dealers? Looks like 06 will be the last year for the current body. Hope the new truck looks as stunning at the current.

The new lade should look good since they kept some old looks while making somethings better like projector headlamps and a bit smaller tighter looking front end. While making the back seem a bit bigger with bigger rear lamps. It was suppose to be out as an 08 model but now Cadillac seems sure it will be sold late 06 as an 07 model like in the above statements. I wonder what lincoln will do?

I'm looking forward to the next Escalade, I just hope they don't over "Pimp my Ride" it. I for one don't like 26" wheels and billet grills, to each their own. Not saying that others are wrong, or that it looks bad just not my cup of tea.

I have to admit, that's a pretty clever way to do some research, whether or not you agree it's quality data.

i see more soccer mom- executive drive stock escalades than i see rims and subs and screens escalades so asking rappers and NBA wasnt such a great idea in my opinion

If it didn't benefit R&D, it certainly helped PR. I mean look, were talking about it right now, creating speculation as to who was there and what it looks like. I think that's exactly what they wanted.

Maybe they were looking for ideas for upgrades or options and maybe a limited edition:

Thats funny right there. :lildevil: I bought a Denali from a dealer once that had it saved for an NHL guy but his credit couldn't cut it so I got it. :coolgleam

In the article they said that there is a Matrix Special Edition Escalade and a new Platinum Edition Escalade. Is this true and did they come out?

Yeah the matrix one Wasnt even used in the movie. It has I think 22's black rims. I weould guess they are pantera's. It also has an Exhaust kit with black leather interior thats all I think. And the platinum can be seen at your local caddy dealer.
