My cheap remote start kit is telling me I need to purchase some fancy kit to deal with the GM passkey system. Ive heard in the past that you can leave a key in the steering column somewhere so you can use the Remote Start systems. Does anyone know of anyway to bypass it without having to order the extra device?

if your vehicle is the ext or the or the chevy you can not leave the key in the ign. to make the remote work. you will need the security bypass unit for the starter & one for the locks 03+ gm have a system around the locks also. we sell them for 50 each installed. if you want one we can do 30 for the one that takes care or both. let me know!

Well, Im going the easiest route possible on my system, so Im going to use the remote that came with the remote start rather than integrating the factory remote. As I understand it, the lock part is only needed if you want to use the factory remote (press 3 times etc.) and I dont care much about that. I DO need the part to bypass the passkey, but my remote start is a cheap Bulldog unit from WalMart. How will I know if your Passkey disabler works with my Bulldog, or is it a separate module?
