Whats Up Everyone In Cadillac Land, O H Yea

Question 4 U Guys...i Have My G'd Up 94 Fleetwood Brougham, And I Have It Sittin On Some 14's Rigght Now. Uknow, Old School Lowrider Style

However, As You Know, Its Probaly Not The Safest, Since It Is A Huggee Heavy Car. And Well, I Cannot Have More Than 1 Person Sittin The Rear, Since The Right Rear Body Rubs With The Tire.

So I Want To Get Some Nice 15's Again, However, I Understand Its Hard To Find Decent Rims For Our Rear Wheel Beasts

Is That True???

Ur Input Is Appreciated On The Real

Thanks

If steelies are all you need for the moment, any 1970ish to 1976 B/C/D body was the 15in 5x5 pattern. Before that 14in were common. I don't know for sure the pattern. If you want to go weird, the 66 to 78 Toronados and FWD Eldorados were 5x5 with a front drive offset. Narrow Track Cadillac.... Probably rub on everything inside the fender!

For 77-up B Body, must have the 12in front brakes and it will have the 5x5. Also look for any Full Size Chevy/GMC trucks/Suburbans with 5 bolt pattern, they are also 5x5. I believe all 77 up D Body was 12in front brakes, (only say that as I have never seen a 11in braked D Body)

But safety should be fine for the 14's, as long as they are wide enough and have enough rubber. Many older cars in the 60's had 14's. Just don't exceed the weight limit on the tire, it is posted on each tire.

Why not 18's

http://www.edsautos.com/images/cimg1252.jpg

Or impala ss wheels...

Impala SS wheels with Cadillac centercaps look the best IMO. However, if you want OEM 15 inch wheels, there were some new old stock on ebay.

Try your local "recycling yard" AKA junkyard. I got a new looking, NO scratches at all CHROME 94-96 Brougham wheel for $100.00. It even included the center cap which was in better shape than all four on my car. Heck, I might get 3 more and put chromies on my 1968 DeVille Conv.

Dpgc23If you want to keep your car from rubbing in the back get 14x6 rims for the rear they wont rub, and run a 175/75/14 tire, thats what most people do, unless you really want bigger rims.

Thanks 4 Ur Help Big Body,

I Do Have 175 75 14 Tires,
Rims,,,,,,i Think I Do Have 14x6. Iknow The Front Rims Are 1inch Wider

So Its Either 14x8 Front And 14x7 Rear, Or 14x7 Front, 14x6 Rear.
Plus, The Tire Is Already Small For The Big Lacc. And Its My Daily Driver. I Can Say I Had Wire Rims On The Fleetwood, That Was My Dream For The Longest Time, Now That I Have Accomplished That, I Would Like To Put Some Stock Og Rims On It. Then Go With Some Hyrdros To Raise N Lower

U Know How It Goes Man.

Where Can I See Some Of Your Pics Of Ur Fleetwood??

MAN, WELL, HERES THE THING. THE LEFT HAND SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, REAR, I HAVE ABOUT 3/4 OF AN INCH OF CLEARANCE, MAYB BETWEEN HALF AN INCH AND 3/4 INCH.

ON THE RIGHT SIDE, I HAVE A CLEARANCE OF ABOUT 1/4 OF AN INCH. ITS NOT EVEN THE SAME. I HAVE TO TELL PEOPLE TO SIT BEHIND ME, HAHA

ANYWAY....I TOOK OFF THE SKIRTS, TO SEE IF THAT WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO RUB. THE TIRES THEMSELFES ONLY RUB WHEN I HIT A DIP, OR WHEN YOU DRIVING DOWN THE STREET, AND YOU HAVE THE CADILLAC UP AND DOWN MOTION, ITLL RUB.

ANYWAY, I TOOK OF THE SKIRTS, BUT THE PART THAT RUBS IS THE ACTUALL FRAME OF THE BODY. ITS NOT THE SKIRT.

SO WITH THE ADAPTER, AND THE TIRES STICKIN OUT A LITTLE BIT,THATS ENOUGH FOR THE RUB ACTION.

Indiana Spank: From one Hoosier to another, I confess I did attempt the bilingualtation; heck, it's easier than brushing up on my Spanish.

I'm almost ashamed to admit that I went to a public school, but it was in the late 50s + early 60s so we did learn, or at least we attempt, to communicate at a 5th grade level from that era. What dark ages then..., with a dress code (moderate one) and no metal detectors or cops in the school, and the coaches gave you swats with the big wooden paddle for infractions and never got sued for it! "When a Coke was a cola and a joint was a bad place to be".

Saint: Your black FWB is so cool; it makes me wish I didn't buy my white late-'95 one.
Mine looks like a whale, but a cool whale :). I bought it because, being a late-'95, it has the newer center armrests, which I like, and was in excellent condition, plus I didn't see a black one in my area for the 4 months I was looking.
I do have a black '96 Seville SLS, so I do get my "black fix" if necessary by looking up the driveway.

Once you replace your upper control arm bushings the axle will sit right and you'll be able ride lower w/o rubbing. I've been rolling w/ 14x7's on my FWB for 2 years and it rides low.

You have to get the inside fender shaved so you have wheel clearance. I still got 14'7s and 175/70/14 and got no problem with them after I shaved the inside fender.

Well the truth is I've never seen a car with 14" rims on the expressway ever go beyond 55 mph

Most if not all the guys that use small wheels are for cars they use for cruising at low speeds not racing.

It's so easy to swap the wheels on cars so if the need ever arises for speed they can just do a 20 minute swap and put some 17-22" rims on their ride that can handle 100+ mph speeds etc.

My friend uses 2 sets, one for car shows and one for driving the car to the shows.

If you're going to correct me, post a source that backs you up and make sure it's right.

I don't know if you can even get a decent treadwidth with a 14" rim size, but I wouldn't trust the tiny contact patch from a 175mm treadwidth to stop this size car.

The speed limit on the freeway here is 75, I'd assume it's at least 65 in most other places. I wouldn't want a tire that I couldn't use on the freeway. But in reality you almost always have more room to stop on the freeway, so a hazardous situation on a city street at 40mph is probably going to require more stopping and handling traction to avoid.

I'm not against lowriding, but I don't want a 2 1/4 ton Fleetwood behind me who can't stop fast enough and rear ends me, and I don't want to hear any of you guys posting a thread about wrecking your Fleetwood.

So nearly an extra 1000lbs makes it an even worse idea to run skinny tires.
