I have a LEV-L-MATIC system in my hearse that came stock from the factory. It is driven by a belt pulley system under the hood. It uses one of the pulley slots on the power steering pump pulley to drive the hydraulic pump. This slot is normally used for the AC compressor but since this car did not have it I guess they deciced to use it for the LEV-L-MATIC system. This system is used when unloading the casket from either side of the car. There is an electric table that turns and comes out of the car and if you were leaning you could level the car for removal of the casket. I'd like to get rid of this "big" thing under my hood and replace it with a modern eletric pump. Any ideas? Here's a pic. Thanks.

hmm..if its belt-driven maybe you could just take it out and get a regular belt for that area, if that helps any

it seems like it wouldn't be that hard. it looks like the belt for the pump just goes from the P/S to the hyd. pump so you could just tkae the old pump off and plum the lines to a new pump that made the same pressure and volume. that might be the only tricky part trying to find a pump that matches the output of the old one. if you keep the old lines i wouldn't want to run anything that has much higher pressure, you run the risk of leaks. and by the sounds of the system it prolly would be hard to find parts for and a pain in the butt to work on.

I agree and know that. My problem is where to find an electric pump. Maybe a snow plow pump or something of that nature. I've contacted a few lowrider places and I am awaiting their response.

Prestolite makes a pretty good hydraulic powerpac for "Tommy Lift" lift gates for trucks.
