: Where to find window motors?

I have this in the Classicforum too but I wasn't sure if I should put it here also.

I need to replace both my front window motors--70 Coupe Deville.

Where is the best place to find them. I have found several that look the same but have different electrical connections. Does that matter if I just get one with an adaptor? Did they change the motors thru the years? Newer car motors that appear to have the same case are much less than a rebuilt one that says it is for my car. Any ideas?

Have you tried your local auto parts store? Auto zone, pep boys? Take off yours and take it with you for comparison. I believe other GM cars of the same year might be the same..

www.opgi.com which is original parts group. They have a new catalogue you should order. The catalogue covers 1954-1976.

You check rockauto.com? If they have them, just take the part number in to your local parts place.

I have checked but they are in the $90+ range. Other motors that I see are much less and look like they may work. Just wondering if anyone has put another motor in there. If they are $90 then they are $90 but if I can get for less I (my wife) would like that better.
The motor itself is bad but he part where the round gear goes looks like it could be put on another motor and work that way. All I need is the motor, not the gearing.

Only one way to find out...

You could also grab a used one from a yard to experiment with.
