i am having some problems with my climate control system.

here is the situation i experienced yesterday:

it was about 18 degrees out.
from a cold start, without much warmup, i started out on an hour long trip with 4 people in the car.
the windows started to fog up, and subsequently ice over from the inside.
i had the heater set to 80, with the defroster on.
even after the car was warmed up, the blower motor did not come on. there was just enough heat coming from the defroster to partially defog the windshield.
at no point during the entire trip did the fan come on, no matter what setting i put the climate control to.

when i started the car again, (after about 6 hours), the same thing started to happen all over again. about half way through the trip, (with the climate control defroster on 90) the blower motor came on, but was not blowing as forcefully as it has in the past.
needless to say, it defogged the entire windsheild, and part of the front windows.

now here is the strange part.... whenever the blower is on, and i make a rigth turn.... the blower cuts out. it comes back on when i come out of the turn.
i don't notice any loss in power during turns, so i have no clue what could be causing that.

please help.

Check the connections at the programmer under the hodd as well as behind the glove box. My 90 seville I have, I have had since 93, it developed a internittent blower problem. I drove like 100 miles with no blower even though I overrode it with the high button. I got into the glove box for something and when I shut it the blower came on. I unplugged the connector behind the glove box, actually under it on my car, and plugged it back in and it worked great for a while. It has started doing it again every so often. I just ioen and close the glove box. But I would check the connections first.

Yeah that definately sounds like wireing or connectors, when you turn the wires shift slightly and poof, intermitant connections.

thx! i started the car, and turned on the heat on hi fan, 90 degrees, and no blower. i tapped on the dashboard above the glove box and the blower came on. i can repeat this situation by hitting the dashboard, or opening and closing the glove box.

it is either the programmer connection, or the blower relay.
i am leaning towards the relay, because most gm harnesses will not come loose on thier own, with all the retaining clips on them.

Thats funny. Its something how other people's cars can do the same thing. I cleaned my connections and it lasted a few months and now it is starting the same thing.

i was just outside messing with it, and i could not get the blower to come on by hitting the dashboard or the glove box. i even tapped on all the relays, and checked all the connections. nothing.

then... i tapped on the blower motor itself, and then it came on. i did not have to tap very hard.

i am thinking it could be the motor... brushes maybe wearing out? there could be a bad coil that every once in awhile is in line with the brushes when the fan is off. then when you turn it on there is no power to that coil. when you tap on it, it jars enough to engage a good coil.

just my theory. i'm gonna replace the motor, and check the old one. i have 3 replacement motors from other cars so it's no biggie.

Could be a dirty/worn comutator too, that would give the same result as a bad coil. If the comutator is just dirty from carbon build up you could clean it up and be done with it.
