I have a 98 catera. My husband's truck popped out of gear and smacked the front of it pretty hard. Now it wont start. It turns over but wont start. Someone said the security system may need to be reset? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

not sure on that one. If it is that, try disconnectiong the battery for a few minutes and re-connect. Also the crankshaft positioning sensor could be bad.

I don't know of a "reset" for the OEM security other than the battery disconnect mentioned above. You can also try turning the key to the "on" position for two seconds and try starting - that is mentioned in the owners manual in case the key transponder is not communicating. Also, check that a vacuum hose was not knocked loose by the impact.

It has nothing to do with the anti theft system. That disables the fuel pump and starter.

How much damage is there? Could a harness have been cut?

Have you checked for fuel pressure?

Have access to a code reader?
