Okay to start off with this is just an idea I've had in my head for about a year and it seems like a better idea every summer.

I am thinking of replacing my leather seats with cloth seats but I like the cushioning of the old style Cloth seats with the pillow cushion i think it's called which just softens the seat even more.

My few problems with my leather is although my passenger seat and rear seats are perfect because of very light use my driver seat has a small hole on the left side and although I use condition for the seats I am still get a light cracking kind of like wrinkles on it and it has discolored in some creased spots.

Most of all I can live with the above but my greatest pet peeve about leather is it makes my back sweat in the summer months no matter how cold my car is inside. This is very annoying to me because it gets very HUMID in illinois in the summer.

My only good reason really is I love the pillow cushioning and cloth is a little more resistant to wear and tear.

Yet I'm not sure if it will overall mess up the look of the car because I think the interior leather meshes very well with the car and it looks like a car that deserves leather.

I can get the whole driver seat upholstered for about $100 I don't know about redoing all seats but it seems like a good idea sometimes.

What do you guys think? good or bad? cloth or no? pillow seats? will it be un-caddy like? Has anyone done this?

In my 96 Brougham I got the cloth seats and i love them and had had no complaints from anyone, but to me it doesnt really matter if they are leaTHER OR CLOTH JUST AS LONG AS THEY ARE THE BROUGHAM SEATS.

what are you referring to as brougham seats?

There are two different models of the Fleetwood: base and Brougham. The base has flatter, less contoured seats with a different padding and the Brougham has slightly cushier, different shaped seats with front heat and memory.

very very nice pics thanks i would definitely want the brougham feel that's why I want the pillow seats for an extra soft seat.

I'll post pics in a couple weeks when I get it done on my car well if I get it done.

Still wondering if I should or shouldn't

Don't do it!!!!! I'm in Florida, and it's even worse here. Just get that one seat re-done.

Do you have a brougham or base Fleetwood? The brougham has a rear storage armrest. in addition to the different seats.

Why the heck did Cadillac make any model but Broughams anyway? Who would spend that much $ for a "base" model? Doesn't make sense to the kid.

I have a brougham with the rear cupholder thing and the BETTER SEATS.

Honestly if I had seen the base model at my local dealer I would've passed on the car completely the difference is way too noticeable. The base model looks underpadded.

Really makes you think why the heck Cadillac would offer such a cheap looking base model really ruins the caddy name.

You will get better resale value with leather.

I'd put a cloth slip cover on the driver seat if that mid-west heat bothers you! :p

Here in sunny southern California, my black interior assumes body temperature fairly quickly.

I'll bet that 80-90% of all Fleetwoods sold 1993-1996 were Broughams.

I have sales figures from 1958-1975 and the years when there was a Fleetwood 60 Special and a Fleetwood Brougham, (1966-1970) the Broughams had the lions share of the sales totals b/w the two cars (around 90% broughams) The 60 Specials were there for the few who didn't want the padded roof (and on the 93-96 you could order a brougham withther padded roof delete:hmm: ).

What really gets me though is the fake grossly overpriced roof that some dealers put on base fleetwoods. :helpless: They look horrible, and fade faster than a set of 1960s drum brakes at the daytona 500.:bouncy:
