Somewhat related, I came across this on another site:

Date: 2/19/05
Time of incident: 4:30 A.M.
Location: Phoenix, Az.
Proximity: 19th Ave & Aster Dr.

I am posting this not to find my car (because I TOOK IT BACK); but to give hope to the victims out there and maybe catch the piece of crap that got away from me on foot.

At 4:30 AM I heard my "73" Nova being started by someone other than me. I immediately threw on some clothes and pursued the scum bag that thought my car should be his, in my "96" Jeep Cherokee 4X4. He had pulled out on 19th Ave south bound when I caught up to him. I don't think he realized I was there till I decided to try to "spin him out". I tapped the rear bumper of my Nova with my Jeep trying to pull a "COPS" move; but I was too far center to do anything except let him know he picked the wrong car to take. So I then accelerated and pulled left to get along side of him. When I was where I wanted to be I cranked my wheel to the right and clipped the left rear quarter panel of my Nova. Due to the unseasonable rain that was falling my Nova spun faster than I expected and smashed the drivers side door into the drivers side front end of my Jeep. This on the plus side shattered the Nova door glass in the scum bag's face. I immediately braked and watched him spin 2 more times. When my Nova was done spinning I circled it, like Indians on a wagon train, waiting for him to exit my "BABY". He looked like a ground hog popping his head out of each of the front windows trying to decide which way to escape from me. Finally I stopped on the passenger side and yelled to him to "GET THE F?#K OUT OF MY CAR". He actually replied to me saying he was trying. He had two choices...

A - climb through the drivers side window over broken glass (the door was too damaged to open). or
B. - come towards me where I was for sure going to kill him one way or another.

He chose the broken glass (good choice for both of us). He fled on foot and ditched under a security gate at an apartment complex to the West. I could not make it under the gate; so I went back home. My girlfriend who was still on the phone with 911, gave me the phone. After all was said and done the Phoenix Police Dept. not only told me great job; they told me I should have ran him over so they could "take him in". They said they would have reported it as me losing control of my Jeep in the rain. IF ONLY I KNEW AHEAD OF TIME. Unfortunately the "Lucky Bastard" got away. I want this "SOB" caught and prosecuted. If you know anything about this incident please contact me at eenglishiii@aol.com . I want everybody out there to know that although you must assess your risks, you must stand up for what is yours and for what is right. If more of us let the scum that run around taking what is not there's know that we will not stand for it maybe they will heed us instead of take advantage of our easy going laws.

Thank you for taking the time to read this. I hope it has inspired some and empowered others. On the flip side assess your risks and make sure it is the right time to make your point without risking yours or someone elses life. Please feel free to contact me "someone who refuses to be a victim of the unscrupulous and the weak laws we vote for" @ eenglishiii@aol.com.

Sincerely,
jeepmaniii

Because most car thefts are for parts, thieves steal the same cars most people buy.

Also I hear you can steal some Accord engines and fit them in a Civic.

Ralph, although I have made several positive comments about Canada in the past, I just couldn't leave this one alone. Please forgive me for my weakness my friend. Maybe you could enlighten us Americans as to why in 2001, not one...but TWO different models of Hyundai were in the top 10 most stolen vehicles in Canada. Scroll towards the bottom of the link... :drinker

They must have stolen them with tow trucks to satisfy the Canadian black market for transmissions that won't come out of "Fail Safe" mode. I'm surprised the Ford Pinto didn't make the top ten as it would make a wonderful heat source for your harsh Winters after you rear end it. I think you need to explain to those thieves up there not to light up any mary jane while on the job. I won't even try to embarass you with the link to the "Casio Watch Ring" they busted in Toronto last year!! :hide: :histeric:

I found it pretty funny that the Audi S4, was number 25 in New Jersey. That seems kind of random, to have an Audi just sitting at the bottom of the list, when everything else are Ford's and Honda's and stuff.

edit: I bet they have nothing in NY, since there's too many to calculate...hehe.

LOL!!! :histeric: BASTARD!! How can I defend the fact we have no taste!!! That's strange indeed. the last time I paid any attention to stats like that it was the Mustang and Olds Cutlass that were stolen the most! Might have been 10 years ago or more! If that's true I'll never be able to understand our obsession with Dodge, Hyundai, other than the only possibility is that recently Hyundai got equal quality ratings to Toyota, or so I read somewhere. Maybe that's why? :cookoo:

You'll excuse me now because I'm off to steal a '70's green Gremlin to add to my collection of Pintos...... :bouncy:

Here is an interesting article. For my Province most of vehicles stolen are for joyriding! That's why I use a club whether it works or not, it's more for my peace of mind!

I would personaly kill you Ralph if you would steal a Buick LeSabre over a BMW, Cadi, Lexus, etc. That list of least 10 goes to show that 1) old people own the cars and they are locked up in garages 2) GM makes one hot! product:yawn:

The Deville would be worth stealing, but not anything else on that list.

Well yes but I was commenting on how you think its backwards that people don't steal Olds intrigues and Buick LeSabres. If you stile a Hyundai you would not have enough power to win the police chase.

Well that's true!! Isn't a Buick a nicer car that a Hyundai?? I mean what are people thinking here!? Must be all the cold air or something? And Town and Countries??!! When't the last time a minivan was at the top of the "to steal" list in the U.S.?

OKay yes I guess I may steal a Buick over a Hyundai. But like I said earlier, the Buick is prbably in a garage and the Hyundai is in some appartment complex parking lot.

That was the top ten most stollen minivans with T&C

After 20 years the 81-87 Cutlass supreme and Salon are the number one. Actually its 81-84 Cutlass Supreme and Calais and then 85-88 Cutlass supreme and Salon. Not a Cadillac on the list. Oh, This is in missouri. Im glad my 84 Cutlass is locked away in a garage. They would definitely want it considering it has T-tops.
