Does anyone have data noise in their CD changer? I bought a aftermarket changer and am experiencing the noise at the beginning of songs. I was told by the manufacturer that even the factory changers sometimes had the noise due to the lack of technology in 97. Just wonder if he is pulling my chain.

Is this an MP3 player? Does it do this only when playing MP3s or CDs you've recorded yourself? If yes to either of these questions, the "data noise" may be inherent to the design of the changer.

Why would you say I'm getting my chain pulled?
I've had a 1995 with factory in-dash single CD. It had great sound.
I've got a 1997. It has a stock radio with the 'source' button, but no CD. The wire was already in the trunk for a CD hookup. I bought a 6-disk changer for the trunk off eBay. It has no GM labels, but it looks like the units that go into the console of Sevilles. It has very good sound (the 1995 was better.)
Now if your unit plays MP3 or burned CD, maybe there is a 'technology' problem. These things weren't widely used in 1997.
In general my comment means that few people that sell you something want to replace it if they can give you some excuse that you will accept.

Oh, I agree whole heartedly, and I apprecaite the reply. Although, I just looked and should have done something about 20 days ago since the 30 day satisfaction thing expired. You know if someone would have just made an adapter to install an aftermarket head unit, I would have went that way. Not that the noise is horrible, but there are 3 problems:
1. It is a Cadillac and I want it perfect.
2. Delco is by far cream of the crop in a good sounding head unit
3. I like the functionallity of popping in a cd vs. screwing with a magazine in a changer.
But it is what it is I suppose and now I have learned from my mistake.

i has a changer installed in my 96 etc and the noise was so bad i never used it.....the excuse they gave me was the use of a FM modulator to play a changer through the factory radio
