hello, im going to have to start driving my 1977 caddy hearse as a daily driver again soon and it needs a new radiator (due to what seems like a big blackish area in the front of the current radiator in the grilling/meshing/whatever you want to call it, also the engine compartment gets extremely hot) so my question is - will a 4 core radiator for a 472 fit fine and work well with my 425? the radiator im looking at is ebay item #7954787743. i hope somebody knows the general dimensions for a 425 radiator and can help me out

thanks!!!

get out the 'ol measuring tape...if it'll fit in the hole, it'll be pretty easy to manufacture some sort of bracket to hold it in place...

I don't understand exactly what it is that makes you think you need a new radiator?

because the car broke down on me not too long ago and when i lifted the hood the engine compartment was extremely hot and the car would not start back up at all until a couple hours later when it was all cooled down. also, the radiator front meshing doesnt look all that great, in some places the meshing is all bent and twisted and dirty and grimy. awhile back when we first got it running again we had to put some stop leak in it and it quit leaking, but basically its the heat problem that makes me think this, although ill admit im not completely mechanically incline

The fins can be straightened with what is called a comb but the leak is another problem. If there has been problems in the past with leaks, you probably do need a new radiator.
Measure the radiator....there are two different ways to do this. You can measure the core (top to bottom and side to side) or you can measure the complete outside dimentions (top of radiator to bottom and outside of tank to outside of tank). I've seen them listed both ways. I recommend that you do both. That way you know that you are getting the exact size that you need.
Now you need to check hose locations (top passenger side, bottom drivers side, etc......whatever the case may be). The radiator hoses are not all that you have to check. You also need to be sure that the heater hose fittings (if there are any) on the new radiator match what is on the old radiator.
