2000 Catera Sport. 1 week in to it. Drooling coolant like a baby on the way home from the dealership. Bought it as is. Therefore Im alone. I've gotten some hints from you guys but I'm confused. Are the heater coolant valve and the heater control valve the same? How much for part and labor? Does Cadillac "own" this repair or can I get this done anywhere.(If thats my problem)

I am not sure if they are the same but my dealer told me heater control valve on my car was leaking and needed to be replaced and gave me $380 estimate. I just had my coolant flushed at pepboys for $70 and they didn't found any leak. while coolant flush at dealer was $130.

You can do it yourself for far cheaper than that. I had to change mine on my 99. I bought the part from the dealer unfortunately. I think i paid like 80 bucks... for a piece of plastic. www.gmpartsdirect.com (http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/) has them cheaper. I dont know how much different the engine compartment is in the 2000 than the 99. When i changed mine i Took out the wipers and the passenger air filter compartment and was able to get behind the engine to the heater control valve.
