I believe Catera has GM A4S 270R transmission. While flipping through some beammer pages I found couple very nice step by btep articles on how to change tranny fluide on 'em. Here are the links.

The catera has a THM 4L30E transmission which is essentially a A4S 270R, but the 270R is a modified version of the 4L30E just for BMW. Some of that is useful though, especially the pictures which im sure will help.

The flushing gude, has some wrong torque specifications though (vs whats needed for our transmission) and some other minor things. This is right from the service manual if anyone needs it as well:

Are the A4S 270R pans, gaskets and filter interchangeable with the Catera's transmission?
