For the Canada Day long weekend, I took my folks and grandma on a 2 days trip across southern Vancouver Island.

Day 1 on Saturday started with a late morning ferry, then a few hours in Butchart Gardens....

...which was epically in bloom, but I'd wager you're not too interested in that. And then, we parked a block from Victoria's Inner Harbour....

...then spent a few hours walking about beautiful Downtown Victoria....

...but I guess you're not too interested in that either. Then we filled up the tank in Langford, went onto Sooke to stay overnight, before tackling the meat of the Pacific Marine Circle Route on Sunday.

Onwards, to Port Renfrew, the terminus of the West Coast Highway, where we visited Botanical Beach Provincial Park (D on the map) in between a 2.8km hike:

Since those rocky surfaces were essentially the ocean floor at high tide, those "tidal pools" let you get up close to marine life that you normally have to dive to be able to see.

Finally, we drove on the newly-minted Pacific Marine Road and stopped in Honeymoon Bay on the shore of Cowichan Lake (E on the map):

Thanks for posting. Looks like a great trip along with the great photos. Any comments as per total miles, mpg?.
My wife and I plan several day trips this summer. These cars are perfect for this.

Thanks for posting, while I'm chained to my chair in my little windowless cubical staring at two LCD's that are causing either radiation poisoning, blindness or both I was able to take a little vacation looking at your photo's.

For a minute I thought I could almost smell the flowers and sea, than I came too and noticed the smell was an over done bag of microwave popcorn. I hate you.

Gorgeous country... and thanks for sharing!

We've done the Duke Point and Departure Bay ferries to and from Nanaimo a good few times. We had the good fortune to spend 3-4 weeks in the spring on Gabriola Island right next to Nanaimo) for 3 consecutive years looking after friends' gulf front property and their poodle!
Gotta love walking the beach and those tidal pools with the starfish and crabs etc. At high tide the water level came right up under the deck!

Best regards,

Elie

That's easy to find out because each tank is tracked on this car, and I filled up about 20km before reaching the hotel at the end of Day 1. Then, I filled up again just before getting onto the ferry at the end of Day 2. Here are the stats:

Mileage: 297km or 184.5mi
Fuel: 43.3L or 11.44 US gal
Consumption: 14.58L/100km or 16.13mpg
Fuel Cost per Unit: $1.529 CAD/L or $5.49 USD/gal for Chevron 94
