Took the CTS V out for the Famoso test and tune tonight. Weather was HOT, 101 degrees when I left the house at 8 pm. I let the car sit for 2 hours, made my first pass at 10 PM , DA was 3506', temp was 98.1 degrees at 10pm! I looked for a good race in the lanes and found a new 2014 Shelby GT500. Nice guy, we talked, we decided to have a friendly match race. Here is the result:Both cars on stock street tires, I have an Airaid CAI and a Tune, GT500 pure stock. His advantage 662 hp vs 556 hp and weight 3850 vs 4150 for the CTS V...so I was giving up 106 hp and 300 lbs.

Me (CTS V) RT: .002, 60' 2.228, 1/8th mile 8.368 @ 91.66, 1/4 mile 12.637 @ 116.23
GT500 RT: .304, 60' 2.238, 1/8th mile 8.407 @ 89.94, 1/4 mile 12.696 @ 116.59
CTS V winning margin .3618 (3 lengths)

So I let the car sit another hour and at 11pm I looked for another fun race....and I found a new 2014 Camaro ZL1 6-speed manual, bone stock, 580hp and 4150 lbs. Result ( my car still a little hot), temp 90 degrees, DA 3005'

CTS V : 60' 2.202, 1/8th mile 8.423 @ 90.58, 1/4 mile 12.706 @ 115.61

ZL1 : 60' 2.257, 1/8th mile 8.601 @ 87.13, 1/4 mile 13.043 @ 111.21

Another win for the CTS V.

Dude. That's awesome. You guys (GT500) were right outside each other's doors the whole run. Nice!!!

That's awsome... I thought the newer 662hp/631trq 2013/1014 Shelby GT500's ran 11.6's in the 1/4 mile.. Good for you! Just an Airaid and Tune, no exhaust? Sounds like you have a good tune.. WoW... If it ain't broken don't fix it. :)

Dang it! I just saw this post. I would have come out and watched the races. I live in the Seattle area but, I work in Bakersfield a lot. Nice job on the wins!

Thanks guys. I know the times aren't great but it was terrible DA and very hot, but it was a fun night....nobody was turning great times...although there was a McClaren that ran 10.80 @132 . Hey Arca500, pm your cell number and the next time you're in Bakersfield we can meet for lunch, I'm retired and I was born in Seattle.

Here is a video my friend shot with his phone. My friend owns a GT500. Notice the scoreboard flash the time in my lane .36 seconds before the GT500 side. Enjoy!

Good win!

Nice read on the tree for the holeshot. Sounded like a Mustang crowd from the collective groan when the win light came on.

Yeah, that was my friend Travis filming and he owns a 2011 GT500....the guy Mike he speaks to owns a Corvette (used to have a GTO, then a GT500)... I think he says to Travis watch the old guy drive (and shift)... thus the "shut up Mike" comment. Kuddos to Travis for putting up the video.

SuperSports wouldn't have helped the Shelby react any quicker. Great cut at the light Trainman (or is this really Bob, as in Glidden :)). No-lift all the way?

Absolutely , I never lift, full power shifts every time.

Here's a video inside my SRT-10 Ram, no lift power shifting, the button at the first is my LineLoc.

Ouch...very hot. This would have been a good place for the Norcal HX tank with lots of ice. You could also ice your blower lid.

But, I know, run what you brung. Looks like you had a lot of fun, and nice reaction time on the first run.
