: New to the V scene

Hello everyone,

I just picked up my 09 V last week. This is my first American car. My car before this was a 2008 Mitsubishi Evo X making 340 AWHP and 360Tq. Now that I have the 6.2L supercharged engine I am loving it. Never experienced so much torque and power. I must say that my V is awesome. I hope to learn some things about the car from you guys and look forward to your insight and advice. Here are some pictures:

The first lesson to learn: whenever you hear an annoying noise or see an annoying flaw, take a deep breath, push down with your right foot, and count to ten.

And when you do that sure you have plenty of open road in front of you.....ever drive at 150 plus before? :)

Glad to see someone switching over to American made.....so many overwhelmingly going the other way. Sure the V has it's flaws, but so do so many other American and Foreign made cars. The General is getting their act together and it's proven by winning for the first time ever in their history, JD Powers Overall Top Quality Car Manufacturer this year.

I did the same thing, my previous car was an STi making 300 at the wheels. The first thing you will miss is traction. The V doesn't have any, compared to the STi or the Evo. The second thing you will miss is the ability to turn in hard and sharp, and blast hard out of turns. The V doesn't turn in as well and of course if you put your foot down while coming out of a turn you just get wheelspin and sideways.

Those are the only things you'll miss. Everything else in the V is better, and you'll get used to doing Clarkson-style tire-smoking turn exits because despite its weight the V is really controllable. Not a ballerina like the Evo/STi, more like a monster truck with a tutu. Put it in competitive mode and put the suspension in sport, then take some high speed sweepers and everything will come together. This is a German barnstormer despite being an American car, it was built to run on the Nurburgring and the autobahns.

Aside from the inability to leave from a stop quickly, I haven't missed my STi since I sold it to buy the V. This is definitely the car I'd rather have.

Put some carbotech XP8 or XP10 pads and motul rbf 600 and you can stop plenty fast.

Thank you all for the kind words. I do want to take the car to auto x to see how it does.

Super Sweet ride Mr. V!
I have the exact same in the coupe.

One tip...It pretty much gets the same gas mileage if you drive the speed limit or beat up the gas pedal, so every chance I get I am going all Chris Brown on my accelerator!

Also, if you have the automatic push the stick to the right. It puts it in sport mode which makes it start in 1st gear insead of second, and the shifting is more aggressive. (Higher rev's, holds gears, and down shifts faster after braking.

Welcome to the family.

(Now all you need is the mandatory plastic bags, ducktape, and shovel in the trunk for all the haters ! ) LOL! ;0)
