Just wondering if the HP and TQ have been confirmed. It's easy to assume that it will be like the STS-V at 440 hp and 430 tq.

With significantly less weight than the STS-V, I do wonder if they will put a different cam profile in there to alter peak horsepower and the torque curve. Sort of like they did with the old generation SLS vs STS.

from reading car and driver feb 2005 edition, botht he ctsv xlrv stsv were on the FRONT COVER! I believe from what i read it is going to have same motor as sts-v 440 supercharged, HOWEVER, it is MUCH lighter.. so any guesses at 1/4 mile? the STS they said was 13.8 im gonna go with a 13.0 figure for xlr-v anywhere from 12.9-13.2.

any word on if they could package the 6 speed auto in the XLR-v ? not sure how it would fit since like the c5 and c6 the tranny is mounted in the rear of the car

The guys over on any of the big Corvette message boards seem fairly certain that the 6 sp auto will soon find its way into their vettes. Seems that the 6sp auto should make its way into the XLR-V as well. Especially since it's already teamed up with the s/c northstar in the STS-V.

but who knows?!?!! :hmm: :bonkers:

IMO this is a shame. The XLR-V should have as much, if not more power, than a Z06. People who are in the market for a car like this hate it when people point out that a "cheap-o" Corvette has 60 more HP.

If I ran GM I would also offer in 2006 a very limited run of LS7 500HP powered XLRs. Call it the XLR-HV (for high velocity)

This would be the "super car" that GM desperately needs

XLR-V = 4.4 LITER SUPERCHARGED V8, 443 HP @ ???? RPM, 414 TORQUE @ ???? rpm, 19" WHEELS, PRIELLI RUNFLATS.
STS-V = 4.4 LITER SUPERCHARGED V8, 469HP @ 6400 RPM, 439 TORQUE @ 3600 rpm, 18" FRONT & 19" REAR WHEELS, PRIELLI RUNFLATS.

I agree with you. I don't understand why anyone thinks the Corvette has to have more HP, or be the fastest GM car. If Cadillac wants to really challenge MB and BMW they'll need some monster machines.

- Lexus is coming out with a big V12 with an 8 speed transmission.
- Audi has the new mid engined sports car coming out with a 5.5L 550HP V10 available in it.
- The next C series from MB will have over 400HP.
- The new V8 AMG E and S class cars will have over 510HP, and the 65s have over 600.
- The next M3 will have a 400HP V8 version of the M5's high reving V10.

Just about everyone of those cars will cost more than a comparable Cadillac but that's mainly because Cadillac will be playing for second place.. again.

I will say that the current Cadillacs are far better than those of a few years ago. Having just driven an '06 STS AWD I have to say it felt noticabely better than the '05, the steering, torque converter and transmission were much better. I think I'll wait for the second model year from now on before I purchase a car, because the running changes made a big difference.

Finally, I doubt I'll purchase or lease a V series Cadillac after my V's lease is up, I'm looking at a Z06 or 997.

Where did you see these two bits of information? I definitely need to check them out before putting down money on the XLR-V!

Auto magazine. If I remember correctly, neither car will hit the streets for about 2 years.

Also, the name of the audi is the LeMans, and there are 3 versions:
1. S4 V8
2. RS4 V8
3. V10 - What the Lambo Gallardo has in it.
