What exactly does the error message say? The first thing that will be recommended is to disconnect the battery and touch the negative and positive cables together. Then reconnect and try again. Didn't work for me on my 07 STS before I sold it but it works for some.

My CTS got the CD Mech Error, replaced the unit...

Is it Nav or non-Nav?

There are so many more. Google cd mech error. Don't discriminate sts vs cts or srx. But these two are the jist of it. There are a couple that describe how to disassemble if you're willing to tackle that.

Is yours the nav one? If so you're looking at a couple hundred dollars short of 3g's.

I have done well there on parts for both the Aurora and the STS
