: Cruise controll not working

Hi all, proud new owner of a '70 Sedan DeVille here.
Overall this car is in great shape, and is a blast to drive.

The one problem I have for the time being is that the cruise controll does not engage.
I can turn the switch on the dash on, and the red 'on' light comes on, but when I press the button on the turn signal stalk it does not engage. I was going 45 at the time, so I figure it should be working by that speed.
The little metal chain from the carb to the vac diaphragm is attached, and all the vac lines look in decent shape. I am curious about a vacuum reserve cannister on the passengers inner fender that is not hooked up to anything at all - is that part of the cruise system?
Does anyone have a vacuum diagram for the cruise controll system? How do I test the cruise 'brain'?

well I couldn't tell you exactly how every thing works but make sure all the electrical is connected properly and the fuse is good my 77 cruse wasn't working when I got it all but it was just the groud wire was disconnected
