: Floor board between rear buckets different in Luxury and Premium?

I have a 2010 Premium Escalade and i am looking to trade for a 2010 Luxury Escalade with lower mileage, but i noticed the floor board is different between these two. Both are AWD. My Premium seems to have multi-level floor and the Luxury is quite a bit more smooth with out all the layers. I will try to get pics of mine posted, but i thought this was very odd that the floor board would have a different configuration.

Here is what my Premium looks like.
I don't have a pic of the luxury version, but it doesn't have those steps on each side of the bucket seats.
ANY IDEAS why it would be different on the same year model and both are AWD?
My platinum does not look like that, there is a carpet insert that goes over that area that is full of sound deadening material that takes the "bump" out and makes that area smooth, I guess that is what you saw, I am sure it must cut down on noise too, as well as making it look better to the eye

Here is a pic of the Luxury i am looking at. You can definitely see the difference.

Mine is the same as what you have. 08 Ultra Lux. The floor in the 2nd pic looks way better I think.
My 2010 luxury looks just like picture #1 as does my 2008 suburban. I wonder if it was a mid year change to the model, or someone got a newer model year part put in. Can you look at the sticker on the rivers door and see the build date of the one with the better looking floor?

Maybe the smooth floor just doesn't have the seat floor cover on it?
I will look at manufacture date today.
Our 2012 looks like the second pic....

My 2010 platinum looks like second pic.

I have a 2010 base model and it looks like the second pic...

That's interesting. Maybe they switched it mid way thru the model year. All of you guys are AWD, right?
The only thing I can think of is if that one you are looking at had a full third row from the factory and they installed second row captains chairs later.... It's just a guess

Could it be the premium is a power fold seat and he luxury is not?
06-30-13, 12:56 AM
That's not it. Both have power folding seats.
Could someone with #2 please show a pic of the floor with the seats folded up? Im still trying to understand what this extra floor piece looks like/ does....If there is an extra insert that those of us with #1 could get that smooth out the floor would be great!

It looks like this was a design change made some time in 2010. The 2 piece carpeted captain chair base covers were upgraded to a smoother 1 piece unit. In the parts description it also mentions "for vehicle with plastic stanchion cover" and "for vehicle w/o plastic stanchion cover. I am not sure what this is in reference to.
I am interested in upgrading my platinum (linen) to the 1 piece unit. The part number for the 2 piece units are 25831284 (LH) and 25831285 (RH) and they run about $68.00 each. The part number for the 1 piece unit is 20922981 (Linen) and it runs about $102.00. The other colors are slightly higher.
The one piece unit can be found in the parts section- Section Cab and Body parts: wipers, mirrors, doors, trims, seatbelts. Component: Floor Covering and related parts. It is item number 16.
I think this would be a good upgrade because the high curbs on the two piece units are magnets for dirt especially with light carpet. Maybe Chris with Rippy could tell us if the 1 piece can be retrofitted.
Great info, sasakura! I would be in for buying the part as well. I've pulled up the part on the left second row seat, and its only attached with industrial Velcro. I would be surprised if the newer part attached any differently.

I just replaced all the carpet in my 2008 Escalade ESV so I wanted to get new floor mats that would provide maximum coverage. High End Motor Sports offers 2 styles of floor mats for between the rear captain's chairs. The 2011 and newer style floormat is wider than the 2007-2010 style. The wider style is designed to work with the one-piece factory carpet that Escaldes started coming with in 2011. I ordered and received a new 2011 OEM one-piece carpet section to replace the original style. Here are some pics of the install.
Original 2008 carpet section under Captain's chairs.
Comparison of design change.
New carpet section installed.
New wider floor mats installed.
The new one-piece carpet seems to fit into place fine but I would be interested to see what is underneath a factory installed piece if anyone gets a chance to post a photo (like additional padding, velcro or anchoring points). The new floor mats definitely provide more coverage than the OEM's but they are not as tight a weave. I love that the 2nd row and between the captains chairs floor mat is all one section.
