Well, I FINALLY got a glimpse of the 2014 Cadillac CTS up close, and snapped a few grainy pictures of it.

The car looks GREAT in the real world and the car really stands out.

I spied it near Grand Blanc, MI.

Like the front end, but that rear is not appealing to me. Thanks for the pics though.

Thanks.

The rear makes sense in person and really flows well. Pictures do not do it justice.

I love this car. This looks like the CIEL from the front If you look quickly.

This car looks amazing! Worthy STS replacement. I don't understand the disdain for the rear profile? It looks good IMO. I imagine the mid cycle refresh will include a 'buttlift'

Thanks for the pictures, EnvoyBu. Coming from a Cadillac/CTS fan, it looks good. Alot more conservative than 2nd gen and priced higher, but...it still looks good for its class. I've owned a 1st gen & 2nd gen CTS, I haven't made my decision yet on whether I'll be there day one for the 3rd gen. Again, thanks for the pictures...

^ I agree, the emblem on the front is too high. The rear of the vehicle, and to some extent the car's side profile, is unexciting, disappointing to me - it doesn't tie in well with the dynamic (but probably overdone) front styling. Overall I think the new '14 CTS looks less sporty as compared to my '11 CTS.
Thanks for the photos.

Thanks so much for telling us what we should think, and that we should all consider the design wonderful. Gawd. :halo:

I'm sure I will, EnvoyBu. I was having the same feeling of dislike for the XTS leading up to launch, and although I'm still not overwhelmed with the exterior design, its starting to grow on me quickly. I'm sure I'll fall in love with the 3rd Gen CTS, once I'm up close and personal with it.

The new CTS makes the XTS look like a pile of meh in comparison IMHO. It's beautiful! :)

Well damn...lol. You've piqued my curiousity now, EnvoyBu. I'll be there for a test drive, day one...

Hmm... my experience has been if something doesn't look good in numerous photos taken from many angles, it will not improve when viewed in person. Genuine good looks are intrinsically photogenic. The styling of the 2008 2nd gen CTS was a huge hit with everyone when the car was revealed in January 2007. By comparison the reveal of the 2014 3rd gen CTS earlier this year didn't cause much of a stir at all, stylistically speaking. Probably because the vehicle lacks a properly evolved, consistent sport sedan styling theme from stem to stern. The front end styling appears dynamic/aggressive, however the vehicle's side profile is ho-hum and the rear treatment is an aberration. As the saying goes - beauty is only skin deep, but ugly is to the bone.

Front looks pretty good, rear sucks. Looks too much like a 1st gen from the rear and side. 2nd gen looks best.

What?! no drive around the block? :)
I have to say -- this looks like a VERY expensive vehicle. Even from this video one can tell that the materials look very premium. Love it. Can't wait to go for a ride.

Nice couple of videos, thanks. My only criticism (so far) about the new CTS is that dimensionally it is 5" longer but interior space(s) are essentially the same as the outgoing model. But definite kudos for losing 250 lbs in the new larger model. Final evaluation (mine) with be delayed until I can see one (for myself).

Thanks for the pics Envoybu. Love the front of this car but not crazy for the back. I would prefer the back lights on the same level as the trunk, like previous generations. The rear reminds me of a Volvo. Hopefully it will look better when I see one in person.

I own and enjoy a 2008 CTS AWD 304 sedan and its been flawless for the past 46k miles a great ownership experience since oct 2007. Still looks brand new.

I went to the ny Autoshow and the new third gen CTS v sport in person is really very good looking.

It's much np nicer in person. A real stunning design. I'm not rushing as I still enjoy my 2008 model...rest assured the new third generation is even nicer.

60 grand to start for the start of the v sport! Not inexpensive to say the least
