The other day I cleaned out the EGR tubes in my 90 Coupe Deville with a 4.5. One of the EGR tubes was pretty loose, it wobbled and rotated easily. The other was tight (and clogged solid). I didnt mess with the loose one as I was afraid of breaking it off completely. So, how are these things attached? Is it a press fit or something else? At least it wasnt clogged so I didnt have to mess with it.

My 90 Deville has the same situation. Both EGR tubes are loose. I also do not know if this is normal. Can someone tell us?
One of mine is also, normal? doubt it, but when it gets warmer they are coming out. I don't like anything loose like that in the intake tract. If it falls in, bye bye 4.9L...

When I looked at my loose EGR tubes I tried to find a way to remove them but something pins them into place. It dosent look like they will fall out. I dont think a clamp would be good because it might intefer with the air flow in the engine.

Seems like it is no big deal.

The tubes are staked from the bottom end in the passage that they project into. It is perfectly normal for them to be a bit "loose" feeling. There is no concern over them falling out or anything. Quit worrying about nothing in this case.
BTW....go ahead and clean them out good....loose or not. They do need to be relatively clean and unobstructed.
