What do people use to clean the grill? Mine has had water stains for as long as I can remember.

Sounds strange but ky jelly and a dish sponge will take it off. Dont know how someone figured that technique out!

When I had my 69 30 years ago I used Eagle One wire wheel cleaning kit. It came with a spray acid and neutralizer.

I took out the complete grille and sat on the couch with it watching football and polishing every bit with some metal polisher and a cloth...

Don't forget to put some wax on it after you polished it. Otherwise you will end up with water stains again with the first rain or wash.
