This is in addition to the F150 Truck recall. Man I really hate being the messenger on these. Apparently, the latches in the back can RUST and then the door wont close properly. Not really a big deal, but if you have a kid back there that could be kinda scary.

I guess I'd rather worry about rusty latches than my wheels falling off, or a fire.
I'm glad they're gettin it done.

Now see? That's why I like to buy all my cars used. Beside the fact that I'm a cheap s**, most all the cars I get have been proven already. If it's gonna fall off, catch on fire or freaking blow up it will have done it already! :D

Ya know, it really does seem like Ford is having the most trouble these days?

Maybe... I dunno. I think Ford is really kinda shakin in their boots from the recent NHTSA GM investigation. Theyve either been investigating these problems for some time and are just now releasing all of them, or they arent taking any chances and are putting out the recall IMMEDIATELY upon any sign of a problem with a major safety issue.

Lest we not forget too that the Focus was the one that got all the potshots for the 2000 Recall on the wheels falling off. (Wheel bearing issue)

Luckily I totaled my ZX3 before it started giving any trouble. I do miss that car though.

In all fairness, they are good little cars. I actually looked at the SVT's once when they still had the Xenon lights, and that was a potent little pocket rocket. They are LEAPS AND BOUNDS ahead of the rubbish Escorts (the ZX2 coupe actually claimed a few poor soul's legs), and actually are one of the most european feeling little American sedans around. They are also frequently recommended as a good budget option despite the occasional problem.

Yea, I had big plans for mine. I bought it brand new in '00: 5 speed, zinc yellow, dark grey interior... Sticker price was 12.8K so I had it almost paid off after 2 years. Put wings west body kit and limo tints, was getting ready to put lowerings spirings and Xenon projectors on it. It was a cool little car for what it was. Too bad that damn tractor trailer didnt get out of my way on I-95, ran right into it at 65 MPH :( Well, after 38K of driving I didn't have a single complaint about it, went back to the Ford dealer thinking of getting an SVT and saw a squeaky clean used '98 CL and just couldn't resist...

Sorry to hear it had such a terrible fate, but that 98 CL is much much more car on its own merit.

And back on the Focus... it seems Ford is giving away a brand new Dell PC right now to get them off the lot...

My grandmother is so sweet, when I was looking for new cars (old Cadillacs only) over Christmas break, she told me about a woman getting rid of her '02 Focus who lived at her apartment complex. 'Course the next day I found the Brougham, but I had a fun time explaining to my grandma why I'd absolutely love! (sarcasm) to call the woman and test-drive the Focus, but I just liked the Caddy a little more. Shucks, grandma, but thanks for the offer, lol. Personally, I think the Focus has to be one of the ugliest (no offense if you've got one.....well ok, you can have some too) cars ever designed! It's just plain ugly! I mean, it's up there in the ranks of the Pinto, 88 Grand Am, 96 Taurus, etc, you get the idea. Man I hate Focuses!

The Focus may not be for everyone, but the Cavalier is a far crappier car overall.

So, would it be safe to say, "The Focus isn't for everyone but, the Cavalier isn't for anyone." ? Hmmm....

The Cavilier is a terrible ONE STAR for side impact!!! There were a lot of GM cars in the last few years to have a crappy side impact rating. They include Alero (One star) and the old gen Mailbu (one or two stars-from memory)

The Focus did quite well according to the NHTSA at 4 for front and 4 for side if I recall.

I can't stand these recalls. I bought my wife a brand new Toyota Sienna minivan and within 8 months we had two recalls. They were both for silly stuff and we have yet to get them fixed. :(

Hey, nobody's perfect.
Be glad that they are notifying you and fixing them at thier cost (yes, we are inconvenienced) rather than taking the position; "Screw them, we'll take our chances with the law suits being less than the cost of the recalls."
Think about it.
