Am trying to replace the sun visors on both drivers and passenger side. I removed the three screws unlike other I have worked on the connector did not come down with the visor. It is like it is either stuck on the headliner or attached. I do not want to ruin anything. Can anyone help me with this. I appreciate it
That is exactly it. I've replaced both of my sun visors. There is hot glue holding the wiring and connector in place. You'll need to pull the headliner down just enough to work your hand up from one of the edges and peel the connector away. You may also be able to pull the headliner down just enough to get a long screwdriver in and pry up the plastic connector body. Whichever method you use, watch how much you flex the headliner or you may end up with a crease. Pulling on the wiring will absolutely cause damage (to the wires).
Any chance the old dual visor setup from the previous gen would work. I am really surprised at how much that second visor helped out in the Deville.
No idea if the are the same length but I would bet ddalder would know if they were.
For some reason the 'Reply With Quote' doesn't seem to be working for me... Anyway, unfortunately I can't answer the question regarding compatibility between the sun visors. I don't have any experience with the older version.
Darn, of all the people on the forum I would have thought you would have known.
Perhaps I'll have to take a trip out to a salvage yard and do some measurements / comparisons.
eBay photos show they are about 17" long in the deville. could get a pair of 'tan' ones for $60 with mounting piece from eBay. not sure if I want to take that gamble yet though.
Just picked up a replacement visor assembly today. The door on the old one has sheered pins and falls off. When I get the hot glue removed is there enough play to get the wiring harness to the hole? I don't want to mess up the headliner.
Kind regards,
BD
Well it is not easy as I had to replace both of mine. The hot glue they use to attached the connectors is not easy to get loose and I took both the handles off each side and rubber trim to get the headliner down enough to get at the connectors. Kinda over kill of ya ask me I didn't tear up my headliner doing it but many cuss words did exscape my mouth during removal . Good luke?
Hi there I might be doing this to my 08 sts soon.
Anyone know where in Toronto Canada I can get a replacement driver aside visor? Is the dealer the only option?
Yup I found one for about $50 or so I think that was the cheapest but maybe somewhere else cheaper?
Thanks for the reply anyways Luda
