Check this out and post if you're interested in attending. Runs 4/28 thru 5/1 at Laguna Seca. A chance to meet in the flesh and maybe get some track time.
http://www.marquemadness.com/:welcome:

Also, Solo2 event at the Oakland Coliseum this Sunday 2/6. I'll be running my V in Run Group 7, probably going off sometime after 1 p.m. http://www.sfrscca.org/solo2/Results/2005/Championship/round1_info.html
Solo 2 is a great way to "express" yourself and your V, legally, at less $$$ than track days.
Superbowl??.. like I care about stick and ball stuff.

That's funny... it's sponsered by Shell "V-Power"

...and oddly enough I actually run V-power. That's their 91 octane juice. I highly recommend it. Just happened that way. Always been a Shell user. Maybe I can show up there with my receipts and they'll comp my entrance fee... or at least coupons for free gas!

NorCal Shelby Club is running Laguna next Sun/Mon, there's still space available for everything but Sunday Red (intermediate) Group last time I heard.

Can't make it next weekend myself (and the only trackable car that's running is the M5 and it doesn't go near Laguna again until I swap the brakes...one area in which you guys have it all over me...)

Going to be very few club events at MRLS this year, the track's going to be closed down quite a bit this year for some upgrades.

From the link http://www.marquemadness.com/activities/hpde.php "... be able to drive Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca at a "spirited" pace - quite a bit faster than a parade lap but not as hot as a full-on track day. No race prepared vehicles will be allowed.Once on course, you'll have a chance to see this world-renowned race track through the driver's eyes. There will be multiple pace cars on course maintaining a steady and entertaining pace. Any cars holding traffic up with the hope of hot rodding a few turns will be black flagged and removed. All participants will be given at least two fifteen minute sessions on this awesome race course. By the end of thirty full minutes on course at a "spirited" pace, you may be "hooked" and want to move on to faster and more instructional programs.

Lastly - with two sessions on course, each driver can change passengers at the break so they can extend the experience to two folks who share their passion for this place - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. The Touring Day as been developed by Hooked On Driving for MM."

Sounds like multiple pace cars in "lead and chase". So no competative timing. There will be an autocross at the Marina airport. http://www.marquemadness.com/activities/shootout.php

Shell V-power is providing $25 gift cars to people who sign up before April 1. (while supplies last) I'm sorry, we found you so late, but there are still good corral spots available. We have two major sponsors and the support of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and we have the Rolex Grand Am as our center piece.

We could use a point person for a Cadillac corral. Please contact me with any suggestions.

MONTEREY, Calif. (February 22, 2005) - Sports car enthusiasts from all over
the Western United States will have an opportunity to gather for a unique
"all-clubs" event dubbed MarqueMADNESS April 28-May 1 in conjunction with
the U.S. Sports Car Invitational Presented by Shell V-Power at Mazda Raceway
Laguna Seca.

The U.S. Sports Car Invitational Presented by Shell V-Power April 29-May 1
will be the season opener for Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, featuring the Grand
American Rolex Sports Car Series for Daytona Prototypes and GT cars as well
as the Grand-Am Cup for high-performance street stock cars.

MarqueMADNESS will begin a day earlier, on Thursday, April 28, with an
opportunity for club members to do "warm laps" during a Touring Day at the
raceway, in addition to an inter-club shootout autocross competition at the
Marina Airport that continues through Friday. MarqueMADNESS will also
feature festival-style marque corrals during the race weekend, and two
inter-marque rallyes. Additional marque club activities will include a
parade laps/photo event, Funcours, special displays and camaraderie.

The marque corrals will provide race fans yet another opportunity to view a
large variety of sports cars as club members proudly display their machines.

"We welcome participation and the support of ventures such as
MarqueMADNESS," said Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca CEO/General Manager Gill
Campbell. "The organizers are putting together an interesting and
stimulating event that will involve car enthusiasts from all sorts of clubs
and feature numerous makes and models."

The MarqueMADNESS organizing committee has designed the festival "to provide
an exciting, new and unique marque club event that will stimulate enthusiast
participation, assist in retention of participating clubs' members, help
attract new members, create cross-club linkages and raise money for worthy
charities."

Included in the program will be time built in for club members to exchange
ideas to improve and strengthen their own clubs. There will also be a number
of off-track activities, including dining and shopping on the spectacular
