Hey all, just picked up my CTS v from Mike2009ctsv here on the forum, and I've been doing research on the iphone integration, I haven't found a whole lot that's not already been posted to death but I did find this very curious russian video, not only does it show the iphone mirrored to the screen, but it shows touch screen controls.

Anyone speak russian? there are a few videos from this guy one of them he's talking but I don't know what he's saying. I'm guessing the product is called "tv free" but google fails me in search.

thoughts?

Well, I have heard that overseas versions of the car enable the TV tuning options so it wouldn't surprise me if that was part of it. Now that would be sweet.

I'm waiting for someone to mount an iPad mini or a big Android phone in place of the Nav screen.

It must be a demo video for the mimicsX2 from customgadz which seems like a cool concept but google search delivers nothing but negative reviews about I shipped product and over promise under deliver tales. I am going to do the coastal tech lock PCB with analog video input (need hdmi to analog converter inline to get and run video out of iPhone5). The mimicsX2 would complete the package to take factory touch screen inputs and send them to phone via Bluetooth. With all of his, may be cleaner and cheaper to gut factory nav display and permanently mount an iPad mini in there (going to look at this option too).

I got an email back from Russia and look like they are using a CTS Nav unlock from http://www.navvideo.com/ but no info on how they get the touch pass through.
My iphone is jail broken and I have mirrored the display before on my M3 works ok but I won't touch on my NAV would be cool.

Visiting Russian websites.....usually NOT a good idea unless you want your computer hacked or spied on by them and the NSA, or infected with a nasty virus.

lol...well I stumbled across these videos when what I was actually looking for was just a nicer way to integrate the iphone to the system.

I really can't understand how the Ipod is recognized via USB only yet Iphone requires headphone connection. It's beyond obvious the car can send audio through the USB so potentially another solution would be to have an app that makes the iphone emulate the ipod for output so the car thinks it's an ipod not iphone then it will play without headphone.

why does this even matter? I actually don't know, perhaps I just think it's unnecessary to plug in a headphone cable :)

I guess I'll just use keep using the Patuoxun Bluetooth A2DP Music Audio Receiver Adapter for now until something better comes out.

I'm guessing that doesn't allow steering wheel control? how does it connect to the car via usb AND headphone or only USB?

the reason I started looking around is my 07 GS 350 didn't come with an aux input at all, so 3rd party companies make several different boxes to add iphone for audio or audio AND video.

I used the mediabridge product and it allows BT ad2p with steering wheel controls working 100%....so if it's possible for lexus it's possible for cadillac.....I ended up using a wired connection b/c I wanted to charge my phone anyways, but, BT worked flawlessly

The last time I contacted these sites (3-months ago) they all said there is no working video in solution unless you also purchase a $600 GVIF converter to go along with it.

The iPod requires a headphone connection. I have an iPod Classic, 120GB, and there is no audio with a standard iPod-USB cable and no audio without the proprietary two-tailed cable plugged into the data and headphone ports.

I don't know why GM chose to do it this way, and their cable annoys me because it's impossible to lay the iPod flat in the console, and if I think about it there's a digital-to-analog-to-digital-to-analog thing going on, but I'm really trying not to go into a nerd rage over what is a functioning and adequate if unimpressive audio system.

But I'm still watching this thread :)
